Brian Baumgartner in ‘Into Temptation’

Sunday, August 30th, 2009 | 8 comments

One of the best parts of running OfficeTally is reporting on The Office cast’s various movie projects. It’s been a busy summer — John Krasinski in Away We Go, Ed Helms and The Hangover, and B.J. Novak in Inglourious Basterds.

Now it’s Brian Baumgartner and ‘Into Temptation.’

Into Temptation is a story about a young priest who tries to prevent a prostitute from committing suicide. Its cast includes Jeremy Sisto (“Law and Order”), Kristin Chenoweth (“Wicked,” “Pushing Daisies”), and The Office’s Brian Baumgartner.

Needless to say, this is a radical departure from playing Kevin Malone, and after watching the trailer and listening to the Minnesota Public Radio interview, I had to go directly to Brian Baumgartner himself and ask him a few questions about the movie.

The film had its world premiere in Minneapolis on Thursday, plays in limited release around the country after that, and then comes out on DVD in October.

Ellie Kemper: The Office’s new recruit

Saturday, August 29th, 2009 | 10 comments

IGN interviewed the newest member of The Office cast, Ellie Kemper:

With a background in comedy and improv, Ellie Kemper proved to be a natural fit among the Dunder Mifflin crew when her character Erin was hired as the new receptionist in Season 5 of The Office. Clearly the producers of The Office agreed, because in Season 6, Kemper has been made a series regular.

During a recent visit to the set of The Office, I spoke to Kemper about her role and what it was like joining such an iconic series.

OfficeTally Survivor Poll: Season 5

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009 | 759 comments

OfficeTally Survivor Poll Season 5OfficeTally Survivor Poll is a series of fan polls posted in the summer following a full season of episodes.

Similar to the ‘Survivor’ reality show, you’ll “vote off” your least favorite Season 5 Office episode in each poll, until the lone survivor and most popular episode remains.

FINAL STATUS

After 3 months, more than 700 comments, and over 23,000 votes, Broke is now crowned the winner of Survivor Season 5! Thanks to everyone for voting and championing your favorite episodes so passionately!

Before we move on with eager anticipation to Season 6, I thought we should start a new annual summer tradition: the All-Time Fan Favorite Poll. We’ll do this every summer after completing Survivor.

The task of the All-Time Fan Favorite Poll is singular: vote for your one favorite episode of The Office since the show started. Watch for the Fan Favorite poll next week, and who knows, maybe you’ll get a chance to win a prize!

‘The Office’ blueprints

The Office Blueprint

Being the complete geek I am for ‘The Office,’ I was super excited when tipster Ed emailed me about this.

Here are ‘The Office’ blueprints (PDF) created by set designer Jeff Beck in April 2008!

Every door, desk, and wall of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton set, now available for your scrutinizing pleasure.

Granted, it is a bit out-of-date, in that it still shows a desk for Devon, a picture of Pam and Roy sits at reception, and there is no sales desk for Pam, but I think the general layout is still pretty accurate. (Please post comments on any other interesting details you notice!)

Ed told me “I am going to use them to make a 3d digital model of the set, I will send pictures when it is finished.”

Sounds cool!

What will YOU do with these blueprints?

These blueprints are made available to OfficeTally with explicit permission from Jeff Beck and NBC. Thanks so much to both!
