The Office Happy Hour quotes

Michael: Anyone who does more than 25 pushups …
Dwight: … and one girl pushup …
Michael: … gets to go home!

Michael: Well it’s not exactly fair. He’s got all this weight that’s helping him go down.

Oscar: Yeah, we talked this morning and we talked at Christmas. So … a little momentum there.

Darryl: Look, just be straight with me, man. You can be gay with Matt, just be straight with me.

Phyllis: I love going to bars with Bob. I tend to wear something low-cut, get men to flirt with me, and Bob beats them up. What?

Jim: I gotta tell you, this baby is amazing. She gets me out of everything. And I, and I love her. I also love her very much.

Erin: Talk to me that way again, and I’ll cut your face off!

Kevin: When a new mom hears a baby cry, her you-know-whats fill up with you-know-what. And then her shirt gets … you know. That would be funny.

Isabel: A girl like me is why a guy like you comes to a place like this.

Dwight: I love repartee.
Isabel: Do you?
Dwight: Usually means there’s a battle scene coming.

Julie: He doesn’t act like a boss at all. If I had a boss like that, we’d never get anything done.

Hide: My brother, good head, bad heart. Good head, bad heart.

Michael: Hi, I’m Date Mike. Nice to meet me. How do you like your eggs in the morning?

Dwight: Universal donor.
Isabel: Mm-hmm.

Dwight: Height, advantage Isabel. Birthing hips, advantage Isabel. Remaining child-bearing years, advantage Isabel. Legal obligation, advantage Angela.

Isabel: You are amazing at this. How did you get so good?
Dwight: Whacking moles.

Bouncer: We got a problem?
Michael: Yes. Homelessness.

Michael: I’ve written all of it. In my head. If you’re really interested, it is called “Somehow I Manage.”

Michael: Read it? I own it.

Andy: What movie? Black Snake Moan?

Andy: This is not what I want my relationship to look like.

Andy: Hi ladies and gentleman, my name is Andrew Bernard and I’ve been on two dates with Erin Hannon, and they went well. And there will probably be more. Thank you.

Andy: I’m a total drama queen.

Hide: My big secret: I kill yakuza boss on purpose. I good surgeon. The best!

  1. Dwight would NEVER get that girl in real life. He goes from getting laughed at by the purse lady to having all this swagger?

    I did like Date Mike.

  2. Thought it was a great episode! I really didn’t get what was going on with Ryan and Kelly? Can anyone help me out?

  3. I felt so bad for Erin. Andy-listen-Erin is NOT Angela. Loved when Isabel smacked Angela in the head:) Ok episode.

  4. I loved besides the fact the Dwight was a self centered pri**! Poor Angela how is she ever going to have a baby if these jackasses keep getting in the way? Damn you Isabel!

  5. I loved it lol.

    My favorite moments
    – Erin telling Andy she would cut his face of was hilarious.

    – Angela creeping around Dwight and Isabelle and then startling Dwight lol

    – And Isabelle smacking Angela like a whack-A-mole

  6. Good episode even though I didn’t like Date Mike like Prison Mike from Season 3. I am glad that they are not rushing to get Angela and Dwight get back together, and love Andy and Erin talking head.

  7. date mike was too much…. i so dislike it when michael is way over the top. i don’t laugh, i cringe

  8. I thought this was a great episode! So many couples to keep up with, and yet it didn’t feel overcrowded.

“Date Mike…nice to meet me.” Loved it.

  9. I really liked the episode..laughed throughout the whole thing :) While I do like Isabelle, I felt bad for Angela. Glad to have Pam back too, she looked so pretty! Date Mike..nice to meet me.

  10. I might be in the minority, but I love Dwight and Isabel together. Loved this episode: Oscar and Matt, Andy and Erin, Jim and Pam, Stanley putting all of his cards in the dish, everything.

  11. the isabel/dwight episode was a little hard to believe but i thought the wack-a-mole part was hilarious! entire episode was really great, best since the delivery

  12. Classic office!!!!!. So many funny lol moments. oscar shooting basketball . . lol . . . I’m a good surgeon . . . Keven during the talking head behind the window. This show keeps getting better and better.

  13. Date Mike was painful. I was literally cringing. But I do like Dwight and Isabel together… they’re so alike, which is hilarious to me. So glad to have Pam back, yay. And Jim’s talking head about Cecelia in the beginning was amazing. Plus the push ups. I’m not the biggest fan of the whole Oscar storyline, but I do love Oscar. Plus seeing him interacting with Darryl was good and different. I missed parts of it so I’ll watch it again later, but what I did see I liked.

  14. I loved this episode – so jam-packed with great moments involving a wide range of cast members. Loved Creed dancing! Andy and Erin were dawesome and I always enjoy cringe-worthy Michael (but then I liked Prison Mike too). Definitely one to watch again, just to catch everyone’s little moments. “What’s your drink?” “Grenadine.”

  15. This one was good. It felt a lot like the B story of the Season 3 episode Cocktails. 8/10

  16. Ok so I LOVED this episode …Laughed throughout the whole thing from stanley doing push-ups to Kevin yelling YES!!!! in the parking lot…. I love andy and erin.. Creed on the DDR was priceless… as was kevin during the Andy/Erin’s talking head…This season is one of my favs for sure

  17. I dislike Isabelle too. I don’t get what the writers are doing with this new Dwight relationship knowing how many of the fans are Dwight and Angela fans. Isbelle isn’t likable at all and having her whack Angela isn’t going to make her any better. And with this storyline, Dwight continues to lose the whole lovable crazy guy role and continues to go to jerky bad guy. I don’t know, I just think it’s disrespectful to the many Dwangela fans out there. That, IMO, was Dwight at his best.

  18. I did like the episode better than last week’s. One thing still really bothering me – well, two actually. I just don’t care about Andy and Erin and I wish they’d stop it. And Michael is getting to be a bit out of character and whiny. I still laughed a lot though throughout the episode, loved Isabel smacking Angela, I like that so much better than Andy/Erin. Creed dancing was hilarious.

I was so happy to see happy, sweet Pam back and hanging out with Jim, joking around in the background. His t/h was great about how the baby gets him out of stuff, the whole scene was perfect. JKras’ reactions are always so spot on. Just wish that they’d stop this Andy and Erin thing. They’re just both too over the top, in my opinion.

  19. It was a pretty good episode over all. I like the andy/erin relationship, but it was painful to watch how stupid andy was being about it. I’m still on the fence about the Isabel/Dwight relationship, but it was still a pretty funny episode.

Did anyone else notice the reference to the Scranton Strangler from “The Delivery” newspaper from Cecelia’s birthday?

  20. much better than last week’s! definitely one i will watch multiple times. i think dwight and isabel are hilarious… but why would pam be friends with someone who is so like dwight?

creed + dance dance revolution = win

really didn’t like most of what kevin did…. i guess the giggling behind the window during erin/andy’s joint talking head thing was a little funny, but the “crying” at pam’s boobs was just ridiculous.

and the tag was absolutely pointless.

  21. I thought I heard Pam say over the phone during the talking head mentioning the people she was excited to see and one of them she said was “Brian”, meaning Brian who plays Kevin. Did anyone catch this or was I just hearing things?

  22. Date Mike was soooo awkward. And I love it when The Office is awkward! Bring it on! I’m hoping that Isabel will discover how really strange Dwight is and that will lead to him getting back with Angela. I don’t think I can live in a world without Dwangela.

  23. Okay episode. Definitely some good lines/jokes. I don’t care for “Dwangela” (couldn’t care less for A’s personal life after “the duel”). But I’m annoyed at inconsistencies in D’s character and storyline. His chivalrous side doesn’t mesh with the jerky side.

  24. My favorite part was, “What movie, Black Snake Moan?” For some reason, that made me laugh until my stomach hurt. I’m still laughing right now, just thinking about it.

Really enjoyed this ep! Thanks, B.J.!

  25. this was the best episode ever, kevin crying to get the breast milk, amy pietz!, andy and erin, creed dancing, overall i think i haven’t laughed this hard since diversity day, and that was a long time ago.

  26. Date Mike sounds a whole lot like Prison Mike. haha.
Really great episode, Kevin was hilarious as usual.
I love Andy and Erin, they are such a crazy version of Jim and Pam.

Please, Please, Pleeease let there be a deleted scene of Andy playing DDR.

  27. Hilarious episode! Andy and Erin were awesome!! I’m still laughing at the scene where they pretended to be hitting on strangers. Black snake moan!! Can’t get enough of the Andy-Erin pairing. Loved Dwight and Isabel and the Whack-A-Mole on Angela! Great episode written by B.J. Novak.

  28. Dwight was great. I like the Isabelle thing. Did anyone else think the japanese guy at the end was hilarious? I’m still laughing over the episode.

  29. I loved Angela surprising Dwight and him flinching, much like he flinched when surprised by Jim in Customer Survey. Always cracks me up.

  30. This episode was awesome. Loved the Date Mike, Kevin, DDR Creed, Erin and Andy, Dwight/Isabelle/Angela, and Stanley’s push ups. 9/10

  31. My favorite part is when Pam tries to explain to her friend how Michael usually is and she starts flailing her arms. You know when you’re away from people for a long time and you sort of miss them, then you actually see them and remember how annoying they are? I just loved seeing her remember. So relatable. :)

I think it’s funny that Dwight is able to keep up that horrible flirty banter with Isabel. But I think I get it– she’s a little nuts. And Andy and Erin once again made me nauseously uncomfortable and made me go “Awww” at the same time. I never knew a TV couple could have that effect before, and therefore I LOVE them.

I had to cover my eyes during Date Mike, not gonna lie. And I say the tag was funny.

  32. Hilarious episode! It was nice seeing Pam and Isabel again. I liked the fact that Michael may be hooking up with the bar manager. ‘Twas a nice twist. I also enjoyed the scene where everybody was cheering for Creed on DDR.

    9/10

The second half of Season 6 is on a roll!

  33. The whack a mole thing Isabel did to Angela was so unexpected. I was waiting for the whole Dwight/Isabel thing to be ruined, as it would be in any other sitcom. Yay Office writers for doin’ it your way! I really do love Angela but that made me laugh so hard :D

It is awesome that Dwight consistently does well with the ‘ladies.’ Lots of women are drawn to that arrogance/confidence and find it really attractive, lol.

    Other Bits:

    * Darryl’s face to the camera, in his office, after he spoke with Oscar, awww, so cute

    * Oscar is adorable

    * Creed rocked the house

    * Kevin’s little squeaky laugh noises are so funny

    * We got to see Jenna!

    * Andy really does love drama

    * I don’t think Mindy and BJ are acting anymore – I believe that the cameras just happened to stumble upon them and began filming one night when they were hanging out :D

  34. Best episode of this season, hands down for me.
    A few reasons:
    – Date Mike
    – Kevin.
    – Creed.
    – Isabel (I don’t understand the hate towards this character, she’s really cute and Angela had her chance! lol)
    – Japanese guy
    – Stanley.
    – and SO much more. This episode had me dying in laughter.

  35. i also liked how we got to find out more about the asian dock worker, yes, that’s what i usually thought about him, because I didn’t know what ethnicity he was. also, i think dwight would get along with him, with that crazy yakuza story of his lol

  36. This one had me laughing from beginning to end! the cringing at Michael! Kevin’s crying! Kelly & Ryan playing DDR! Andy & Erin preciousness! Jim admitting he uses the baby to get out of things… but still loves her very very much! Pam’s excited phone call! DWIGHT!!!! what a great epi!!!

  37. Pretty boring episode for me. Erin and Andy are cute, Jim and Pam are pretty much the same every episode, and everything else was pretty standard. I wish they’d focus more on Kelly and Ryan. I used to hate them, but now they are one of the very few things I enjoy on the show.

  38. Loved this one. Just minor story and a lot of great quips with the entire cast. Darryl was my favourite this episode. Best quote was when he told Oscar, “You can be gay with Matt, but be straight with me.”

I always have faith in B.J.-penned episodes. He is my favourite Office writer.

  39. GOLD! Absolute GOLD! Through and through! I was laughing from beginning to end! This was the BEST Office episode!

  40. Haha, I loved this episode tonight. And loving Isabelle’s character, such an odd, funny relationship. It got me thinking that if Dwight and her are dating and she being Pam’s best friend…the Halperts could possibly be seeing a lot more of Dwight outside the office. I actually find that idea absolutely hilarious. Poor Jim and Pam. ;)

  41. I am secretly cheering for Dwight and Isabel (I guess it’s not a secret anymore hahaha)…overall loved the episode…. will re-watch it again!! =D

  42. Enjoyed this! I always love The Office, even when the episode isn’t that super. And, I’m liking Isabelle…

  43. I love Dwight/Angela, but I’m seriously loving Dwight/Isabelle! I find it hilarious that Isabelle is so much like Dwight. You would never think that, and that’s what makes it so funny to me.

And the rest of the episode? Loved every second of it.

    10/10

  44. I’m a big fan of The Office but this episode was just plain bad. All of the new characters (Matt, Isabel, the Asian warehouse guy, bar girl) are not strong characters and add very little to the show. I wish they would just stay in the office and go back to the awkward interactions and witty writing that we all love.

  45. No, no, no! It wasn’t Kevin’s crying. It was Kevin’s reaction when Pam actually did. CLASSIC.

    B.B. we miss your tweets!

  46. ‘You can be gay with Matt, just be straight with me’. One of Darryl’s best lines ever.

  47. How did you get so good at this “Whack a Mole” game???….pause….Whacking moles. Awesome.

  48. I really liked this one. The episode was one of the funnier of the season and was also grounded in reality. I loved Pam’s arm flailing when she tried to describe Michael and pretty much everything else. And although I used to think Dwight and Isabel were ridiculously incompatible, they really showed tonight how bizarre and unstable she probably is. I’m fine with it if it ends the prenatal contract.

  49. @ASFan: I’m guessing she said Ryan, not Brian…

Loved the episode! They are on a roll!!!

  50. This episode reminded me why B.J. Novak is my favorite writer. Episodes like this, which are more or less just filler, can really go either way. But kudos to B.J. and the actors for making this one of the best of the season.

#25, ASFAN, I heard that, too. Pam definitely said “Brian.” Wonder if that was intentional (for all we know, it could be a warehouse guy to whom we’ve never been introduced) or an overlooked mistake.

  51. Loved and hated Michael. And that’s exactly what it’s about. When he’s unassuming, he is SO charming. Then he pours on the charm (yuck) and it gets oh-so-uncomfortable. I love seeing Creed in the eps. His character is def the most interesting to me. I’d love to know more of his past. Can’t wait to see more of Isabelle. That sort came out of left field, but what a pleasant surprise !

  52. Yet another classic funny and cringeworthy episode! I love Dwight and Isabelle together…and when she “whacked” Angela on the head I couldn’t help but lol! SO GREAT! :)

Michael is a total weirdo but that’s to be expected. I’m glad he wound up hitting it off with the manager of the bar…she’s really pretty! Wonder where this one is gonna go…maybe another Carole situation? haha

  53. @BEEWCAR

    Nope, best friend.

Wow, I did not expect Dwight’s reaction after Isabel walked away and he looked down to see Angela standing. Hilarious.

  54. beewcar- Isabel IS Pam’s best friend/Maid-of-Honor, they are not related.

  55. This was so great! I love when the show highlights how socially starved Michael is- trying to end work the minute Andy invites him out for a drink, being so grateful when Jim asks him to play pool, and obviously Date Mike. The failed winking cracks me up every time. And I really love Isabel. I don’t know how this is possible but it’s easy to imagine her both as Pam’s best friend AND as someone who’d be attracted to Dwight. Dwight’s reaction to Angela behind him was the funniest moment of the show for me. OH and when Pam was flailing her arms about Michael and Jim was imitating her- tiny but cute Jim/Pam moment. Generally, I think I enjoy these about-nothing episodes the most; that’s the foundation of the show!

  56. I dug it a lot. Easily a top out-of-the-office ep. Angela was a bit too much of a cariacture for me, but it didn’t detract from the awesome being brought by everyone else. And I only wish I had the ass backwards success with the ladies one Mr. Scott has.

    !~DATE MIKE~!

  57. Thank you B.J. for improving the season! Great humor, so many inclusive plot points, and no one was out-of-character snarky.

Kevin killed. Only he could get away with that.

Andy and Erin together is uncomfortable. Their talking heads look like father-daughter.

And Dwight made a nonsensical choice – he’s too weird to be so shallow.

Overall a great feel. “Somehow I Manage”! Erin’s bar flirting!!

  58. VERY funny episode. I laughed so hard when Michael swung the pool stick around and hit the drink tray. I thought it was a very good epi and agree it had more of that old Office feel.

  59. I loved Michael’s face after Jim asks him to be their fourth. It’s like his biggest dream is coming true and he’s going to shit his pants haha.

  60. Poor Michael, he gets so excited when he is trying to be cool.
Loving Dwight & Isabella, please please let us see a double date with Jim & Pam!!

  61. I kill Yakuza boss on purpose. I good surgeon. The best!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That is the best end tag in the history of end tags. I’m going to have to find a way to use that as often as possible.

  62. Great episode – best of the season, easily. last few weeks were turning me off but this episode redeemed the others. great writing, funny one-liners, lots of lol moments, and moved the plot along rather nicely. not to mention a memorable cold open and creed dancing. there’s hope for the office yet!

  63. Michael really rocked this episode as Date Mike!!!!! It’s good for Andy and Erin to reveal their relationship when they tried to keep it as a secret. And it’s also good to see Pam on the show again.

  64. Plus, i like the first scene of the episode when everybody’s making exercises but Stanley really rocked!!!!!

  65. What did Erin say at to the man at the bar?
    I MISSED IT!!!
I loved the way she came onto the guy.
    Great episode!

  66. I almost DIED laughing when she whacked Angela. I literally watched it three times. It was just so unexpected! Great episode. Side note for OT folks- why is everything in all caps now? it hurts the eyes :(

[from tanster: where do you see that? can you give the specific page? thanks!]

  67. I loved the line: I kill Yakuza boss on purpose. I good surgeon. The best!

For some odd reason it reminded me of Pam’s line when she was meetting Jim’s brothers and she said something like “That Pam Beasley is the best sister in law ever. The absolute best.

Maybe just the way they said it or their facial expressions.

  68. Another “office” episode dedicated entirely to dating/love? I never would have guessed…

  69. Last night’s episode was awesome. Michael was hilarious as date Mike. I don’t know about anyone else, but I was getting a bit of a “Jan” vibe from the manager of the bar. I can see why Isabelle and Dwight hit it off, she’s as weird as he is. However, I do think that she is merely an obstacle for Dwight and Angela, so I’m not worried about them not getting back together in the future. Kevin, Andy, Erin, Creed, and Darryl were all awesome last night as well.

  70. Great episode. 9/10

I loved Erin and Andy’s parts. They’re a lot more exciting than the subtle interactions of early Jam scenes.

Kevin’s ‘waaah’ bit were awful. Ugh, I just wanted to fast forward.

Did anyone notice when the bar manager was going through the tip jar for Michael’s card and they pulled away to Stanley for a brief second. He was with 2 women! Haha, what a player!

  71. Not sure if anybody mentioned this, but did anybody notice the mistake in this episode? When Pam is screaming on the phone about being so excited, she says, “I am so excited to see everybody Creed, Brian, oh my god Stanley…”

Brian was supposed to be Kevin. Just a little slip-up on Jenna’s part.

  72. I love that Japanese guy, I want to see more of him making funny statements in broken English! B.J. Novak should write much more episodes.

  73. tanster, I don’t know if you can fix this, but when I expand the comments for this post, all the comments, everything in the sidebar, and all the favorite quotes turn into all caps. I think it’s only for this post!

  74. One of the best episodes of the year! The tag had me laughing out loud all night long!! Hilarious! And the way Michael said “Date Mike. Nice to meet me.” was so goofy, but so funny at the same time.

Creed and Kevin were also great in this episode. I loved Creed in the cold open, “Oh! Come On!!” I don’t think anybody else can make me laugh more by sayng less.

All in all, it was just a funny episode of The Office!

  75. Such a great episode, I am a huuuge fan of you BJ Novak! Jim’s nineteen push ups? Stanley “lifting a car”? Osacr and Matt? Angela liking Anderson Cooper? Oh yes yes yes. Jim and Pam were adorable, Kevin was PRICELESS, and Michael? Excuse me, “Date Mike”? YES PLEASE. Such a great episode, thank you thank you for pulling the Office out of it’s little slump ;)

    DWIGHT AND ISABEL FTW!

  76. Not my favorite episode. It was funny with small laughs, but I didn’t really have a hilarious moment. Still, wasn’t bad by any means.

  77. I really really liked this episode, it felt a little like Cafe Disco to me, kind of a feel good story.

Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy Date Mike as much as I’d hoped. I loved how Michael and the friend interacted (actually, I think I like them together more than michael/holly, but that’s probably just me), so I was sad to see him mess it up.

  78. great episode, hey tanster whats up with everything being underlined and in caps, little bit distracting

  79. If I remember correctly, it is implied in season 1 that Oscar can play basketball, given his desire to play in the game against the warehouse, and it is hinted in that episode, yet in this episode, he is portrayed as terrible at basketball. Still a good episode, just a problem with continuity.

  80. This episode was the funniest thus far of the entire series! There were so many excellent moments. I love Andy & Erin!

  81. I’m not sure if anybody said this yet but.. did anyone else notice the green screen in the cold open? it was during Michael and Jim’s talking heads while everyone was chanting for Stanley. Sigh.

  82. Nice Solid episode. Still not sure if it could be considered with some of the best from season 6 but not bad. Reminded me at times of the UK version of The Office.

  83. I can’t wait to see what develops with Isabel & Dwight…not so much for Erin & Andy. I like both the characters, but this seems like a “re-do”of the Jim & Pam story. Yawn. On the other hand, Dwight has met his match with Isabel, and that is fodder for great writing.

And, I always love an episode when Creed has more than one line. CREED!

  84. I really enjoyed this episode. It was great to see Pam again, and I thought the ensemble shined in this one.

  85. Everytime I heard Michael say ‘Date Mike…nice to meet me’ made me laugh out loud, especially the last time he did it. Steve Carell added a little more ‘lewdness’ in that last time, awesome!

Also, favorite line of the show:
Look, just be straight with me, man. You can be gay with Matt, just be straight with me.

    Darryl is epic!

  86. My favorite episode in a long time!

I really love how smooth Dwight is with Isabel.

I can see them ending up together and then that would make Jim and Dwight KIND OF brothers in law.

“You are an impressive specimen…” HAHAHAHA!!

Also loved Jim’s “What is HAPPENING?!”

  87. I finally found out what yakuza is! It is from Murder, where Dwight is teaching the office about the “new” karate techniques. He gives an example about two different karate clans or something, and one of the clans is the Yakuza. Boom roasted!

  88. When Jim calls Pam and asks her to come out, she yells over the phone that she can’t wait to see “Creed, Brian”… I thought she might have said Ryan, but I definitely heard a BR sound in there…for those not in the know, the actor that plays Kevin is Brian Baumgartner. And yes, my name’s Brian too, lol…
