Wearing multiple hats on The Office

Variety has a really interesting article about the challenges of being both an actor and writer — true of several staff members on The Office:

[Paul] Lieberstein, who was strictly a writer before coming to “The Office,” finds his actor mind and producer mind in conflict in another way. [Steve] Carell, he explains, will pounce (in character) on any actor who fumbles an improv.

“He just devours you. If you take too long, he makes fun of you. If you say something that didn’t follow, he makes fun of you. It’s kind of amazing. While I’m watching it as a producer, when I’m not in the scene, it’s definitely something I’m hoping for.”

Best Part of Your Job: When we are in pre-production, this is the best job in the world. Working 10 to 7, sitting around and brainstorming with the other writers, making things funnier and writing and rewriting scenes — that’s as fun as it gets.

Toby Flenderson, Director of Human Resources, hosts “A Night at the Office” marathon tonight.

Five “human resource nightmare” episodes will air surrounding an all-new episode of “Andy Barker P.I.” at 9:30pm ET. The encore episodes include “Diversity Day” (8–8:30pm ET), “Healthcare” (8:30-9:00pm), “Sexual Harassment” (9–9:30pm ET), “The Injury” (10–10:30pm ET) and “Gay Witch Hunt” (10:30-11pm ET).

The Museum of Television and Radio has posted a short clip from The Office cast appearance at Paley Fest. The clip is of Steve Carell, Greg Daniels, Paul Lieberstein, and Oscar Nunez talking about (and reenacting) the kiss from ‘Gay Witch Hunt.’
