Steve Carell to leave ‘The Office’ after Season 7

The Office’s Steve Carell talks to Access Hollywood about the possibility of leaving the show next year.

BBC Radio recently interviewed Steve Carell and Tina Fey about their film Date Night.

At the end of the interview, Steve is asked about The Office:

Question: How long will you stay with The Office for? How many more series? How long does your contract run?

Steve: Contract through next season.

Question: And will you stay after that?

Steve: I don’t think so. I think that will probably be my last year.

Here is a clip of that portion of the interview:

The length of Steve’s contract with The Office has been previously reported here and here, but this is the first time Steve has actually talked about leaving.

Rainn Wilson talks to Fresh Air’s Terry Gross about ‘The Rocker,’ ‘The Office, ‘Six Feet Under,’ his childhood, and his faith.

The interview is insightful, thoughtful, and in one part, so funny it actually makes Terry Gross snort. Like a full-volume snort. Awesome.

NPR interviews B.J. Novak

NPR’s The Bryant Park Project has posted a terrific uncut 30-minute version of their interview with B.J. Novak.

B.J. talks about the evolution of ‘The Office’, elaborates on the last scene of ‘Chair Model’ (including parody lyrics of ‘Candle in the Wind’!), and discusses the writing process and his characterization of Ryan. One of my favorite lines of the interview is when B.J. says “start with what’s true, keep what’s funny.”

Really thoughtful and interesting!
