NPR interviews B.J. Novak

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

NPR’s The Bryant Park Project has posted a terrific uncut 30-minute version of their interview with B.J. Novak.

B.J. talks about the evolution of ‘The Office’, elaborates on the last scene of ‘Chair Model’ (including parody lyrics of ‘Candle in the Wind’!), and discusses the writing process and his characterization of Ryan. One of my favorite lines of the interview is when B.J. says “start with what’s true, keep what’s funny.”

Really thoughtful and interesting!

The Office ringtone

Given that some of you may have received cell phones from Santa this year, I’ve updated this post and pushed it to the top o’ the heap:

The Office theme song in various formats

The theme song was written by Jay Ferguson and performed by The Scrantones.

Kate Flannery on Loveline

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Kate Flannery appeared on the radio show Loveline tonight!

If you’ve never heard of Loveline, it’s a call-in radio show “with the primary goal of helping youth and young adults with relationship, sexuality, and drug addiction problems.” Not for the faint of heart, and definitely NSFW.

Jenna, Rainn, B.J., Angela, and Brian have all made appearances on the show — check out the archives here.

Sweet Diss and the Comebacks

Meet Dunder Mifflin’s own tribute band:
Sweet Diss and the Comebacks.

Singer/songwriter Nate says the songs have “catchy melodies and soaring harmonies,” and may I also add, are oh-so-sing-along-able.

Please take a watch and listen:

Great stuff, Sweet Diss and seat18b!

Rashida on the radio

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

SPOILER WARNING! Audio and subsequent comments will contain spoilers.

I hesitate to slap a full-on SPOILER tag on this, but she does talk a teeny bit about her future on The Office in both interviews. You’ve been warned. :)

Rashida Jones talked to a few radio stations yesterday:

Phoenix’s 104.7 KISS FM talks to Rashida about American Idol, auditioning for The Office, and Oprah.

LA’s 106.7 KROQ’s Kevin and Bean Show talks to Rashida about fan reaction to Karen, and her new TV show, The Rules of Starting Over. (It’s about 40% into the clip.)

By the way, if you missed Rashida’s appearance on Letterman Thursday night, here it is.

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Kate Flannery appeared this morning on the Elliot In The Morning radio show (originating from station DC101 in Washington D.C.), and discussed award perks, working without an audience, and her Lost connection (and I’m not talking about JJ Abrams).

Song mystery solved

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

Remember that sadly beautiful song that played during the JAM scene last week in Phyllis’ Wedding?

You know, the song that played in the preview (toward the end, when Jim and Karen are dancing), but was replaced by Sting’s Fields of Gold in the actual aired episode?

Well thanks to some good detective work, we now know the singer and title of the mystery song, listed on the NBC Featured Music page:

Penny Framstad, The Heart Has a Mind of Its Own

You can find Penny’s MySpace page (and song) here.
