Give Pam some credit! Looks like she edited it a lot to add more white-space, or started out with her own illustration, before using one of those generators. Hers is clearly more illustrative than the ones I’ve seen online.

#8 It’s a pdf because printing a plain text file doesn’t guarantee that it will be centered, with the right margins and the right size, the right font (if you choose a non fixed width font it’ll all be garbled), or even whether it’ll fit on a single page. With a pdf you don’t have to worry about all that. Plus, if you just want the text file you can copy and paste it.

I’m pretty sure this was generated with the ASCII generator on the web, but still, it shows that she actually learned something in her “expressive typography” class that she wasn’t supposed to be in.

It was such a stretch to call this a “summer project” when it was so clearly created by any of a number of online ascii art generators in a matter of minutes. My only gripe with the episode.

For those interested… in addition to commercial software to create ASCII art, there are quite a few online generators that will do it for free. Do a Google for “ascii art generator”, or there are several links at the bottom of the linked Wiki page.
