what a great interview. bj is so intelligent and thoughtful and articulate. i have so much respect for him. i loved hearing the details about the writing process. i also LOVE jonathan katz!

the funniest was the story about surfing with paul and his first thought “toby!!” that was great.

thanks for posting this tanster, it was a real treat.

That was amazing. My love for BJ started when he was on Punk’d, so hearing him for 35 minutes was a real treat. It astounds me how humble and down-to-earth these people who work for this show are. To have the level of talent they have and be so gracious is truly inspiring.

The writing process, especially for ‘Chair Model’, was great to hear and NPR did a fantastic job showing the differences from the British version and the American version. But I just have to say, I still view it as a mockumentary, maybe more than I should… Great interview!

My love for B.J. Novak will never waiver. From his insightful DVD commentaries to his various interviews, you know he absolutely loves writing for The Office. When he discusses an episode he’s credited for, he’s inclusive of everyone involved, and emulates such a deep, personal pride in what they accomplish. As someone who loves the writing process, I wish I could meet him one day and tell him how much I admire his talent, and the care he puts into his craft. This interview just solidified my admiration for him more. I must remember my love when I watch him play the douchey Ryan.
