Office campaigns for Emmys

The L.A. Times Gold Derby forum has compiled a list of T.V. shows campaigning for an Emmy, based on who has published “For Your Consideration” ads and shipped DVDs to Emmy-voting members.

Among the Office submissions:

  • Comedy Lead Actor: Steve Carell
  • Comedy Supporting Actress: Jenna Fischer
  • Comedy Supporting Actor: John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, Rainn Wilson
  • Comedy Guest Actress: Amy Adams (Katy the purse girl)
  • Comedy Writing:
    • “The Dundies” (Mindy Kaling)
    • “The Fight” (Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky)
    • “Christmas Party” (Michael Schur)
    • “The Fire” (B.J. Novak)
    • “The Client” (Paul Lieberstein)
    • “Booze Cruise” (Greg Daniels)
    • “Drug Testing” (Jennifer Celotta)
    • “Casino Night” (Steve Carell)

  1. I love the show, obviously, and think the entire cast makes it work, but I don’t think that the character of Ryan had enough going on this season to warrant an Emmy nomination for B.J. Novak. His “relationship” with Kelly is funny, but there’s nowhere near as much going on there as there is with Jim and Pam, or even just Jim. I just don’t think Ryan’s talking head about hooking up on February 13th (his best bit) can be fairly compared to Casino Night, et. al. Mindy Kaling should definitely get a writing nod. She has written nearly all of my favorite episodes.

  2. I didn’t see it, but interesting to note that the FYC for Last Call with Carson Daly for Variety series was the Tarantino/Fischer episode.
