  5. 1195. Gail from HI

Aww, Phyllis’ Wedding and Ben Franklin are two of my favorites of the season. I guess I can’t complain cuz I didn’t play! Haha.

  6. 1194. Michelle

I was just looking at these rankings to see where “The Convention” placed, and I’m surprised to see it so low. It was one of my favorites of the season!

  7. 1193. fabio

This saddens me as Ben Franklin is my favorite Office episode of all time. “My name is Gordon!”

  8. 1192. Kari

I think that we should just hail Mike Schur the best writer in the history of writing.

  9. 1191. Michael7e

I think “Safety Training” should be at the bottom. Sure, it’s funny, but I think it’s to unrealistic for the show. It’s not that I don’t like that stuff; Dwight’s challenge in “Initiation” and the Sumo wrestling on “The Beach” were both well-written and seemed like things Dwight and Michael would do. But the entire rooftop idea in “Safety Training”…

Also, “Phyllis’ Wedding” is extremely underrated.

  10. 1190. Lauren

I have to say I think we ended up with a pretty good list, of course I feel some should have ranked higher and others lower, but I can’t really argue with the top 5 ;-).

  11. 1189. CH

NOW we should rank the whole SERIES to get to the best ep of the three seasons.
Ranking game, ranking game, ranking game at lunch!

  12. 1188. Cher is Bonto

yah! the job won. i was disappointed that the return lost but glad the job did instead. Now… we have 29 more episodes to rank. Great fun!

  13. 1187. April

This was such a great idea. It was very interesting to see how the episodes stack up against one another. I’m glad “The Job” was on top!

Just throwing in my 2 cents on seeing the people of The Office in environments outside the actual office…

Season 2 is often hailed as the height of the show, and off the top of my head, episodes or part of episodes took place in: Chili’s (twice), Michael’s condo, a dojo, Jim’s house, a booze cruise, a hospital, Hooters, a paper convention, a grocery store, and an ice skating rink. I don’t think that this show has ever really stuck to the ’stay in the office’ style, I just think it’s our selective memories on which episodes we’ve liked the best making it seem that way.

On topic, this poll was such a great idea!! I had a lot of fun trying to guess which episodes would be the fan favourites. Looking forward to season 4!

  15. 1185. Johanna

I confuse myself. I ended up voting FOR the one I’ve been wanting to eliminate for the last couple of rounds…. What is wrong with me? I bet it’s today, the premiere day. My world is totally upside down. I’m sooo excited!

  16. 1184. Pro Moe

I’m not sure what you’re suffering from CoalWalker, but I think voting for Beach Games might just help. :)

  17. 1183. CoalWalker

Ack! I have been checking the site and voting each time. It takes me about 2 seconds to decide which one I want to vote off and then I read all the other comments. I love hearing everyone’s take, and whether I agree with them or not, most seem quite sincere and thoughtful.

However, now that we’re down to two, suddenly, I’m frozen.

    I can’t vote. I can’t decide. I’m second-guessing myself. What is happening?

Would anyone care to psychoanalyze what the heck is happening to me?

Luckily, by tonight, I will be well again :)

  18. 1182. stanleynickel

    Come on, Beach Games!

  19. 1181. _bales

hi zorro, it seems to me, then, that your main concern with the show is that they seem to be moving out of the office environment too often for your liking. I think, then, the important question would be: would you be happy continuing watching the show if the comedy is still of a high level, even in the case where everyone goes out of the office each and every week (taking the extreme scenario here)?

Many might disagree, but I think the title “The Office” here is used as a metonym (like “The West Wing”), in referring more to the collective group of people working in the office, rather than specifically to the physical entity. Taken in this way, there’s no unspoken rule to be confined merely to the office.

The crux of my argument is that, regardless of the environment, great humor can be (and in my opinion, has been) achieved in “The Office” this past season. The non-office environment, in most cases, serves the same purpose as the office-based situations, as a facilitator for the character-driven comedy. I would like to see more office-based episodes too, but it’s not a pre-requisite for the show to be great.
