Here’s a nice meaty interview with The Office’s Executive Producer Greg Daniels and writer/actor Mindy Kaling with NPR’s Terry Gross. The interview was conducted during the same week as the airing of ‘Diwali’ back in November 2006.

The TV Guide Channel did one of the few (if not, only) behind-the-scenes videos in which cast members are interviewed in character. Funny stuff!

Here’s an oldie but goodie — Boaz Frankel’s interview with Jenna, John, B.J., and Rainn, filmed, I believe, sometime before the Season 2 premiere. Yes, before Season Two. John and Rainn are hilarious!

First up, here’s a Kodak commercial from years back. I loved this commercial when it first came out, and now I love it even more because of its Office connection … :)

  1. Thank you!!!!

I have seen this, but I am so happy you are going to keep feeding us tidbits from the past to get us through this long summer. Why can’t the S3 DVD come out in June?!

  2. Oh man, I remember this one. Hilarious that it’s the Krazmaster.
As long as there’s still funny stuff like this at Officetally, I think I can make it through the summer. Thanks Tanster!

  3. That is too funny! I totally remember the commercial, but had no idea it was John! Haha. Thanks for the youtube link, NoGould – I couldn’t get the first site to play it either. And thank YOU, tanster for keeping us occupied over the long, long summer!!! What would we do without you?!

  4. Thanks for putting that up. I loved that commercial when it came out. I never realized who it was though. Thanks for making the summer bearable.

  5. Thank you so much tanster for helping us with our addiction over the summer! I never realized that was JKras, and wow, thats awesome.

Is it September yet? Can we just fast forward in time to it? I’m dying!!!

  6. I remember that commericial and liked it back then. I love it now that I know John Krasinski was in it. Thanks so much for posting that link!

  7. Like everyone else, I didn’t remember that he was in it either. How funny.

Thanks Tanster, i seriously didnt know what I was goinhg to do with myself all summer.

    You ROCK!

  8. I remember that! Wow, I had no idea that was him. Fantastic for rewind summer. I agree with whomever said it above . . . obsession doesn’t take a summer off!

  9. lol I didn’t watch the end so I was thinking.. “that can’t be john!” then i watched the end

  10. That was great! I never knew JKras was in that one, and I almost didn’t recognize him this time around because of that shaved head lol. And I’ll admit, I watched it more than once … like others have said, obsession doesn’t take a vacation!

  11. I love that interview, but I had only ever seen it on YouTube and the quality was really crappy. Thanks!

I also remember that commercial being on TV, but of course didn’t know it was John. Too funny!

  12. That was great! I loved seeing BJ, Jenna, Rainn, and John. So different, yet so the same. And BJ and John as a couple? Hilarious.

  13. I love that video! Rainn – “I was payed in various dairy products, not just cheddar.” Haha! And when he says, in regards to Ellen, “Did you know she’s a lesbian?” Oh man, gets me every time!

  14. Oh wow, I remember that commercial, but it was way before I ever had the slightest inkling as to who John Krasinski was.

  15. Oh my gosh! What’s up with John’s hair, or lack of? I LOVE it!!! Wow, what a hottie.

  16. Pretty sure John’s head is shaved for his part in “Jarhead”, he’s got to look the part of a lean Marine :)

  17. I love the part where Jenna is talking about working at a kennel and John goes “Tell them about the part where they put them down!”

    So funny!

  18. I guess they did something right because they seem to have connected with the college audience they’re targeting here.

  19. I know this is pathetic, but I have watched it several times now.

I have to say John K. looks so much better back then with a fuller face. He is way too skinny in season 3 and compared to back then looks not well.

  20. Thanks for posting these each week. It’s like a little “Office” snack to tie us over. Very fun.

  21. Best part of that interview, hands down, are John, BJ and Rainn’s “This food is good” faces… Very enjoyable

  22. ‘if you love partying mtv spring break style -woo woo woo!’ lol rainn = my life.

  23. That is definitely the BEST Emmy opening ever. :) I loved all parts. Isn’t it funny how House is like, Conan smells like burnt cheese?? Well, he did come out of The Office… It could’ve been Ryan’s cheesy pita! ;)

  24. I remember watching that and when he came through the ceiling and the camera started to pan down I recognized the Office before any person even came into the shot. I was literally squealing with excitement. I think I looked like a mental patient to my friends. :)

  25. I never got to see the John Krasinski Kodak commercial and my computer won’t play the link.

Someone posted a YouTube link previously, but the video has been deleted. Anyone know how I can see it?

  26. I spotted Miss Rashida Jones in those GAP ads! Yay for her! I wonder if she was actually singing, and if so, she is a pretty good singer, must have gotten it from her dad… :D

  27. The first guy to sing in Mellow Yellow is the lead singer of Phantom Planet.. and can anyone hear the subliminal messages in that song? Oh well old commercial.

    Rashida is a beeeaut.

  28. Love this site! So much fun to check out and get my “Office” fix. I love the Emmy Opener: “No, I did not have Conan O’Brien come through the ceiling.” Hilarious! JK’s so cute :)

  29. Yeah, tanster – I think that is Jason Lewis from “Sex and the City”! I knew I recognized him! I had no clue Rashida Jones was in the Gap ads! It’s so funny to look back on these little things and see people we now know so well. I think I had one of the stripey scarves back in the day…

  30. I was about to say the same thing Rayne! Gotta love Dr. McHottie. I had forgotten that he was a GAP model before being on GH.

  31. I used to love those Gap ads! Brings back memories. I had no idea Rashida was in them. She does sing well.

  32. DAVID LETTERMAN JUST SAID JASON KRASINSKI!
    what a stupid face!!

    haha they just corrected him.

  33. Those were great GAP commercials. Is Rashida in the second commercial? I saw her in the other 2, but I can’t find her in the middle one. And tanster, what is this jump you keep speaking of?

  34. Go Rashida! I remember that last commercial, I would get the song stuck in my head for days after I watched it.

  35. Now I remember how irritating those Gap commercials were! Karen seems to have gotten a makeover since then, with the long straight hair and all. Hmm.

  36. “I wish I had one ball” TOTALLY reminded me of “I wish I could menstrate.” AH ha ha ha! I love the dancing… way to go, “Kip.” :D

  37. “and now you’re blind” that was awesome!!!

    Thanks for posting these.

  38. That was awesome-I’d never seen that before! That Rainn…*shakes head*

  39. great video! i love the fact that rainn has no objections of being topless, because he’s topless… a lot. i nearly lost it during his talking heads. SO OFFICE-ISH!!!

  40. Loved the ESPY’s intro, kind of Dwight-esq, “I’ll be his personal assistant for the rest of my life, whether he wants me to or not” Good Stuff.

  41. Rainn is awesome in the ESPY’s bit! Thanks for posting it, Tanster.

  42. hey do you guys remember that access hollywood interview on the set of the office where Rainn dared people to egg his head? Did anyone ever take him up on that?

  43. I think BJ should stick with acting and writing. His jokes are funny, but I didn’t like how the standup was missing a narrative thread. I understand it’s a style of comedy, but it just seemed to scattered, like he was reading the jokes out of a book.

  44. I loved BJ’s comedy act… “Battered women… sounds delicious.” LOL!!

  45. Keep it coming tanster, these rewinds are perfect for someone like me who is still a newbie to the office.

p.s. i like the random link, i always see somthing new over there.

  46. That was awesome!! I loved that Steve kissed Oscar. Again. I was laughing so hard!!

“And Steve just wouldn’t let Oscar turn.” hee hee.

  47. does the paley fest clip work for people with macs?? (or am i just technologically-challenged)

  48. Toby/Paul is so cute in that clip. The way he says, “It was so creepy” cracks me up. *giggle*

  49. 75, i thought the exact same thing! paul looked so cute and funny when he said that.

The writing the office clip is the first rewind i hadn’t experienced “the first time around” and it’s pretty cool, i have to say that. this summer, i’m really starting to love the writers more and more and more.

  50. If Steve Carell was really playing that guy, he would NOT have lost. Shows what a good actor Steve is. He can make losing seem realistic, when in reality he is invincible. ;) LOVE. STEVE.

  51. Gotta say, for some reason, even though there is not any gags or comedy moments in that fanvid, it is the best one out there.

  52. I love “It’s Getting Hot in Here” – brilliant timing and editing. When I’m down, it lifts me up…on the dance flo’. I can’t believe there are so many relevant clips to the lyrics.

  53. That Hot in Herre video is one of the greatest pieces of fanart created! Seriously, I too have watched it so many times I’ve lost count. And just watched it again. And will again after posting this comment.

    Thanks, seat18b!
