Info: this is a story about Ted and how he fell in love. His friends Marshall, Lily, Barney, and Robin are along for the ride. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future.

I can’t wait for next week!! Slapsgiving 2!!!! hahahaa.. if I LOL’d so hard on the first one then, this should be funnier!! Can’t wait!!!
@kay
I completely agree! Mixing the drinks was the best!
Great episode, but after watching the scrubs finale…. it almost feels wrong that Sarah Chalke is the mother… that would be like Pam marrying Jim and then ending up on the LOST island and getting together with Jack… I don’t know… just saying… it feels wrong!
angie – i totally agree that barney and robin end up married. uncle marchall and aunt lily, uncle barney and aunt robin. also i feel as though, since presumably we won’t find out who the mother is until the end, or near end, of the show, barney and robin are the romantic core. they have been setting up their dynamic since season one and i cannot wait for the payoff! they are perfect for each other and a much better match than ted and robin (who i LOVE as friends).
I’m actually watching it as I type. I love this show, and it has yet to disappoint. I have to say, I am glad Robin is not the mother, and I don’t see why anyone would get upset if at the end of the show, she’s not 1) the mother and 2) she and Ted aren’t together. The reason why Ted refers to Aunt Robin all the time isn’t because they are together, it’s because he is telling them the story of how he met their mother. Clearly the mom wasn’t around at this point, so why would it matter him referring to Robin so much?
I have a theory, because we know the mother was the girl with the yellow umbrella at the St Patty’s Day party, and the fact that when future Ted refers to the mother in a way that doesn’t sound like she is dead or divorced from Ted, that we will slowly and surely get more clues as to who the mother is as future Ted keeps telling his story.
Also, I must say, I feel Barney and Robin are married. And the only reason the kids refer to her as “Aunt Robin” is because she is married to Barney, Ted’s unofficial/official “bro”.
I loved “Three Days of Snow”. I didn’t see the chronological twist coming, and really liked how it tied the A story (Marshall and Lily at the airport) with the B story (Ted and Barney running MacLaren’s). I love how devoted and connected Marshall and Lily are to each other. They’re probably my favorite characters on the show (with Barney a close second), and I never tire of watching them as a loving couple. The airport scene with Lily and the beer keg, and Marshall with the marching band playing Auld Lang Syne, made me cry a little and IMO, is every bit as romantic as Ted’s two-minute date with Stella in an earlier episode.
i think a lot of viewers are going to be pissed off in the end if robin and ted won’t end up together. i mean the writers are obviously building up their relationship from the very start and just throwing in some twists and fillers to spice up their story. if they’re just going to add in some random character in the middle of the series as ted’s future wife, i think the ending won’t be as great as how the show started. robin, however, is probably not the real mother. they made that very clear early on. the writers must now come up with the most clever story of how ted becomes a father to those 2 kids who are apparently not robin’s and end the show in the most unexpected, but still “awesome”, way. kind of like the episode about “ted mosby, the architect” in season two, wherein you’d never guess it was barney all along, but still made perfect sense! :)
What did you guys think about yesterday’s episode? I thought the clip of Ted and Barney trying to mix drinks was the best!
I was just telling my husband I think the mother and Ted are divorced or something because he really talks about “aunt Robin” quite a bit and I would be very upset if my husband is always talking about her and how much they hooked up… specially to my kids, so maybe the mother is not around anymore? (in the future)anyway, that’s my theory…
Barney’s character has grown on me, but I don’t want him and Robin to get together. Why do all of the characters on a show have to be neatly paired off? I think they are both awesome living their own lives.
Of course, I am still holding out hope that even though Robin isn’t the mother, it will turn out that the mother died in a horrific accident or was an alien or was just the biological mother and Ted ends up with Robin in the end anyway.
I just got season one on DVD and it just made me love this show more, I agree that NPH shoulg get an Emmy soon! He makes me laugh so much! Still The Office is still numero uno!
Jim’s brother (from Employee Transfer) was in the last episode of HIMYM. He was one of the guys in the Minnesota bar.
#12 – Barney is the love type.
In past episodes, when he was in his 20’s he was madly in love with Shannon. Sick puppy dog love. When she left him, that’s when he decided to become who is he. He wears a “SUIT” to cover up his insecurities and emotions.
So it’s only normal that his true self, the sensitive loving Barney will come back. He just doesn’t want to get hurt again.
Of course, I think through the rest of the series we’ll see him slowly changing to be able to be in a relationship (with Robin!). It can’t happen all at once, but it’s bound to happen by the end.
I definitely don’t want Ted and Robin to end up together but even though Barney was cute when he told Lily that he was in love with Robin, I just don’t see him being in a relationship. Barney’s not the fall in love type and I think I would miss the old Barney if he hooked up with Robin
Also, I love Robin being Canadian! It adds so much to the show haha!
ha, Robin’s innate Canadian-ness makes me laugh. Sure we’re pacifists…except when there’s a good fight going down.
Why hasn’t NPH won an Emmy yet? Barney Stinson is one of the best characters on TV today.
Agreed, Naked Man was fantastic!
Naked Man was great, but I still love Swarley..
Barney and Robin = <3
The Naked Man was definitely my favorite
I agree with what’s been said before: Barney and Robin need to get together ASAP. Even though I do love them… not together as well. They’re awesome either way.
The Naked Man was one of the best episodes ever, I agree! My favorites are still Swarley, Slap Bet and Slapsgiving though.
