Sept. 30: Ausiello Files

Question: I think I figured out who your soon-to-be mole is that you sat next to on the airplane. Was it Amy Ryan? — Andy
Ausiello: No, but since you brought up her name, here’s some Office scoop: Expect big un-PC shenanigans when a little person becomes a Dunder Mifflin sales rep. (Yes, yes, I know, you expected un-PC shenanigans, anyway. But now you know what kind to expect.)

Sept. 29: Watch With Kristin

Is someone that we thought was long gone, returning to ‘The Office’ to stir things up? Hmmm.

Sept. 29: Watch With Kristin

Lisa in Cleveland: I love The Office! Got any more Pam and Jim goodies for me now that the engagement is under way?
We kind of know this, but … Jim wants Pam to have his babies! That said, the separation is not doing them any good. As Jenna Fischer puts it, “We have to deal with real relationship problems.” Well, now, those don’t sound any fun. Nor does the news I’m hearing that Ryan will continue to be a thorn in Jim’s side for quite some time up at that receptionist desk…and that Holly won’t be around the whole season.

Thea from Indonesia: Can you tell me what’s in store for Andy-Angela-Dwight on The Office?
The good news about Phyllis knowing about Dwangela is that when Angela and Andy set a date to get married, at least Dwight has someone he can (theoretically) confide in. And yes, did you catch that? They are setting a date. I see a hot monkey sex session in Dwight’s future! Still, I can’t imagine she’ll go through with the wedding, right?

Sept. 29: NBC Universal Media Village

Synopsis for ‘Crime Aid’ (Oct. 23):

DUNDER MIFFLIN FIGHTS CRIME — OSCAR NOMINEE AMY RYAN (“GONE BABY GONE”) GUEST STARS — Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) helps Pam (Jenna Fischer) get a part time job at corporate so she can afford to go to art school. Michael and Holly (guest star Amy Ryan) get an early start at the office on their date night. After the office gets robbed, Michael decides to hold an auction to raise money for all the items lost. Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, Ed Helms, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton and Craig Robinson also star.

Sept. 26: Korbi TV

Intel on what’s to come at Dunder-Mifflin is hard to come by these days, as the writing team has adopted the Lost method for locking down story lines. However, I am hearing a few tidbits: The jury duty episode — loosely based off Steve Carell’s real-life experience during the writers strike — is still in the works, though it hasn’t been shot yet. They are currently planning at least one holiday-themed half hour this season, but there’s the possibility (and probability) of more. Plus, look forward to an upcoming ep directed by Extras’ Stephen Merchant, aka Ricky Gervais’ writing partner.

Sept. 25: New York Magazine

Amy Ryan:

When we were filming The Office, we had a scene where were on location at Griffith Park, and we had a rattlesnake handler.

TV Guide, 9/29-10/5 print issue

Family Reunion, Office Style
The Office’s Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) is about to meet her likely future brothers-in-law. In a late October episode of the NBC comedy, Pam — still studying art in New York City — arranges a Big Apple reuinion with boyfriend Jim (John Krasinski) and his look-alike brothers, played by actors Blake Robbins and Tug Coker. “Pam’s trying to do whatever she can to show Jim that she’s really committed to the relationship,” Jenna says. “She hopes this outreach to the family will integrate her to the Halperts, but it just goes horribly wrong.” The craziest part of shooting the scene? For Jenna, it was seeing “these people who look just like John Krasinski.” Who knew there was that much quirky cuteness to be found.

Sept. 22: Watch With Kristin

Marilynn in St. Petersburg, Fla.: Hi Kristin! I was wondering if you knew what Jim would be doing on The Office while Pam is away at art school?
I talked to John Krasinski yesterday at the Emmys, and he told me, “Jim Halpert is slowly accelerating his life at Dunder Mifflin. I think he’s trying to take it seriously now, all of a sudden. Although I’m not really sure why. I think it was frustrating to him for so long and he’s just trying to buy into it now.”

Yessica in Eugene, Or.: Kristin, I saw you on the Emmys show. Is Michael Scott really getting engaged? That’s crazy!
What I reported is that that’s what he tells his officemates but sadly, as much as I’d love for him to hitch up with Holly, I would put good money on Michael Scott lying about the engagement.

Terry in Des Moines: Kristin, thank you for the Office clips! I love you, but I hate you that you got to be there.
I feel you. I’m not even talking to myself anymore I’m so jealous of me. So, a little scoop! Pam isn’t the only one with higher-education aspirations. Any guesses? Think you’ve got the Dwight — oops, sorry — right man? (Or what the hey, I’ll just say it: I’m hearing Mr. Schrute may be applying to Cornell.)

Kitty in Old Lyme, Conn.: The Office!
Mindy Kaling told me at the Seagate-Revlon sponsored Entertainment Weekly pre-Emmy party, “The Amy Ryan-Steve Carell chemistry and what happens with them is so amazing. She is amazing.”

Sept. 22: USA Today

The Office’s Jenna Fischer talked a little about a topic of great interest to Office fans: the relationship between Jim (John Krasinski) and her character, Pam. “Pam goes away to art school, and it tests their relationship. He’s very supportive but she’s in a three-month program and with her being in New York, even though it’s only two hours away, it causes a bit of a strain. And they have to work through the difficulties of being in a long-distance relationship.”

As for their future, she offers a minority opinion. “I think I’m the only person in American who’s rooting for Jim and Pam maybe not to be together.” She then modified her position a bit. “I think it would be OK for them to end up together, but I would really love to see Pam have an interest in her life outside of the relationship she’s in. I feel like so much of her life has revolved around (ex-boyfriend) Roy and now Jim, so I would like to see her come into her own a little bit more.”

Sept. 21: KorbiTV

From Kate Flannery:

The first episode, which premieres this Thursday, is called “Weight Loss” and we all had to step on the scale when we filmed it. Everyone could see your weight on a giant monitor, it was like, omigod! I have not eaten since, which is actually why I was able to get into this dress. But yes, there’s some interesting Meredith stuff coming up. In this first episode, she has a little bit of a natural disaster. The second episode, called “Business Ethics,” is really about Meredith’s ethical misconduct … so, yeah, oops.

Sept. 21: Watch With Kristin

According to Mindy Kaling, this season of The Office is all about gettin’ jiggy: “This is definitely the most scandalous season of The Office, for a lot of characters. I, this past week, had so many makeout scenes I can’t even tell you. I can’t say with who, but my parents can’t watch this episode, because Kelly’s doing so much making out.”

Sept. 19: Tallyhead malaz85

malaz85 says:

… my friend who is staying in Wilshire Grand Hotel in downtown LA was able to see a live scene filmed of “The Office” this afternoon. Steve, Ed, and Oscar were riding up an escalator, in the hotel, and Steve was saying “Man this is Lux guys, really Lux!”

This is also confirmed by On Location Vacations.

Sept. 19: NBC Universal Village

Synopsis for ‘Baby Shower’ (Oct. 16):

THERE’S A BUN IN THE OVEN — OSCAR NOMINEE AMY RYAN (“GONE BABY GONE”) GUEST STARS — Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) practices for the birth of Jan’s (Melora Hardin) baby by having Dwight (Rainn Wilson) go over possible birthing scenarios. Meanwhile, Michael tells Holly (guest star Amy Ryan) that he will pretend to dislike her for Jan’s benefit. John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak, Ed Helms, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton and Craig Robinson also star.

Tipster: Unflinchingly Rigid

Sept. 16: Ausiello Files

Question: Any word on the direction of Jim and Pam’s relationship on The Office? I fear they are going to give us a Ross and Rachel swerve by breaking them up to make us want it that much more. — Cory

Ausiello: Please. I already said too much last week with the rain thing. But I will tell you this: The show is casting a 30-50-year-old plain Jane who must be able to speak French fluently. And we all know how much Jim likes average-looking gals. Too bad Santa Barbara alum Roberta Weiss is so hot: She’s Canadian, speaks flawless French and in general kicks ass.

Question: With that fake rain for Jim and Pam, is the “something momentous” happy or sad? — Laura

Ausiello: Don’t be surprised if there’s some crying.

Tipster: Office-queen

Sept. 15: Watch With Kristin

Jennifer in Calabasas, Calif.: You said we’d laugh our butts off when we learned the identity of the new Dunder Mifflin receptionist on The Office. Is it Jan?

Nope. It’s not Jan, and in fact, it’s not a girl character at all.

Sept. 14: Boston Herald

Swan Chocolates in Nashua, N.H., has a pivotal role in the season opener of “The Office.” Word is, the Scranton branch of Dunder-Mifflin is pitted against the Nashua, N.H., branch of the fictional paper company in a weight-loss contest. The chocolates are sent to Scranton as sabotage. We smell the downfall of Kevin!

Sept. 12: NBC UNIVERSAL VILLAGE

Synopsis for ‘Business Ethics’ (Oct. 9):

LET’S GET ETHICAL — OSCAR NOMINEE AMY RYAN (“GONE BABY GONE”) GUEST STARS— Following Ryan’s (B.J. Novak) recent scandal at corporate, Holly (guest star Amy Ryan) must hold a business ethics seminar. The meeting gets out of control when Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) lets everyone speak freely about their unethical behavior at work. Meanwhile, Jim (John Krasinski) makes Dwight (Rainn Wilson) comply with the company’s “time theft” policy. Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Leslie David Baker, Kate Flannery, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, Oscar Nunez and Creed Bratton also star.

Tipster: Bold Guy

Sept 9: Ask Ausiello

Question: The Office? Pretty please with cherries on top. — Laura
Ausiello: Either Dunder Mifflin’s getting some fancy, state-of-the-art new Xerox machines or Michael’s going to be taking his staff out on more field trips this season. According to an NBC insider, the show has been blessed with “a bigger budget” and “better production values” this season. Whispers my spy: “This year is all about being bigger and better.”

Question: Got any scoop on Jim and Pam’s relationship on The Office? — Sara
Ausiello: With a bigger budget comes…fake rain? Rumor has it that something momentous (and long overdue) takes place between the star-crossed lovers during a torrential downpour.

Tipster: Mel

Sept. 8: Conference call with Paul Lieberstein and Amy Ryan

Lots of spoilerish notes from that conference call here.

Sept. 8: Watch With Kristin

Kim in Las Vegas: Kristin! I am worried for PB+J on The Office. Will their relationship survive with Pam in New York?

From what I can tell, Jim and Pam will be just fine and are still very much a part of each other’s lives this season (at the very least for the first five or so episodes). I’m hearing something about use of the “world’s smallest Bluetooth” keeping them constantly connected as they go about their separate days.

Sept. 8: Jenna Fischer’s MySpace Blog

We are shooting part of our Halloween episode right now. OMG! I cannot wait for you to see everyone in costume this year! It’s AWESOME! I can’t decide who I like best. Our hair, makeup and wardrobe teams worked very hard on this episode. They made our costumes look great but also homemade. I wish they could design my costume for real life! I usually just end up wearing black and orange and a funny hat.

Also this week we are working with Stephen Merchant, co-creator of the British Office. He’s directing an episode this year!

Sept. 7: Watch with Kristin

There will not be one, but two lives discussing their engagements and wedding plans this season at Dunder Mifflin. One is Andy. And the other is … not Jim. Sorry! Any guesses? Would it help if I told you he’s actually a real-life movie star?

Tipster: Sara in Philly

Sept. 5: Various Inside Sources

Stephen Merchant directs ‘The Office’ next week! Sources say “he’s really tall.”

Sept. 2: KorbiTV

From photo #24:

With the departure of Michael’s Dunder-Mifflin nemesis, Toby, came a new face: The Oscar-nominated Amy Ryan appeared as Toby’s HR replacement, Holly, in last season’s “The Office” finale and will reprise her role this fall. And though Michael’s attraction to her will be somewhat tempered by Jan’s pregnancy, all is not lost. “Office” writer Charlie Grandy tells us, “Holly will continue to charm Michael out of his belief that everyone in HR is evil as they further explore the boundaries between friends, co-workers, kindred spirits, and huge dorks.” Ha! As for Rich Sommer of “Mad Men,” who’ll also be a guest, word is his character is somehow involved with Ms. Pam Beesly.

  1. 1651. beer me, Milwaukee

Good episode..definitely not my favorite finale, it should have been supersized..or an hour. And where was my girl Kelly at??! Thought we might see some Kelly/Andy love as a surprise or something crazy like that!

Erin saying BOOYAH got andy a little blood rush, don’t ya think?! HA!

Jenna and John (and Steve of course!) are such phenomenal actors…totally deserving of every award! I mean, the whole show should be nominated & winning for everything!!

  2. 1650. gatinha

JAMbino is an awesome name! Love it!

  3. 1649. AndIHaveWorms

Oh yeah, and I think Jambino should be the baby’s nickname!

  4. 1648. AndIHaveWorms

Several of us were talking in the chatroom about tonight’s episode, and we all think it would be a great idea to have a predictions page for season six! What do ya say, Tanster? Predictions on whether the Jam baby will be a boy or girl… etc. :-)

I think it would be a hit! Pretty please? ;-)

  5. 1647. Only Eight Nards

    Totally called Brian Stack!

  6. 1646. pk

omg!!! did you guys see what just happened???

  7. 1645. jp halpsly

Could the pregnancy and the ‘twist with repercussions well into next season’ be that Michael and Holly go off together during the picnic and make a baby?

  8. 1644. Olivia

I am going to guess that the relationship that does not progress is Jim and Pam’s.

Don’t get me wrong – I love them together. I just thing that all of the spoilers that have been released – the pregnancy spoiler and then Pam going to the hospital and all of the stuff about the wedding – are meant to make us think that they are going to get married or Pam’s going to be pregnant (or both). I think they are trying to lead us off the trail.

My guess is the pregnant one is Holly. I think that’s why she and her boyfriend are shopping for a house.

  9. 1643. rockin'robin

OMG you guys, watch this promo!!

    Link

Maybe the big twist is that the scranton branch shuts down and moves somewhere else. I dunno, but that’s what I got outta that promo, all the scranton workers seem super hypo + Jim and Dwight are getting in the same car!! What do ya think?

  10. 1642. Guy Incognito

I would think that Todd Packer is the not-seen-since-Season-2 character coming back; for good reason as he presumably still works for Dunder Mifflin in some capacity.

If Pam is indeed the character that is pregnant I’m going to be pretty disappointed as that’s not what her character needs attm after her recent career change. Angela would be a whole lot funnier to see. Obviously it would be Dwight’s baby as she and Andy never got “there.”

  11. 1641. jp halpsly

1647. Garbage: Do all of your predictions involve Katy having Jim’s kid? This is like the third time you’ve predicted that.

  12. 1640. NotaBadDay

Tanster, didn’t you tell us that you saw every scene filmed in the finale except ONE? Do you know what happened during that scene? Just askin. Not that I can pry it out of you. Cookie, Tanster. Cookie… :-)

  13. 1639. jif08

person we haven’t seen since season 2

    stacy.
(poor kevin…how’s he gonna handle lynn AND stacy)

  14. 1638. SSE

Just because one relationship doesn’t progress, it doesn’t mean it will regress, either, right? Surely you can tell us that much, Tanster??? I’m getting sooooo anxious!

  15. 1637. tanster

I am just about ready to explode, holding all this information in. :)

  16. 1636. Garbage

Maybe Jim and Pam will have a huge fight and break up. How awesome would that be? Ooh what if Katy comes back and has a kid that turns out to be Jim’s and he has to pay child support now? Now that would be a great twist.

  17. 1635. Sharon J

I think the surprise is that when Pam is rushed to the hospital for her ankle, they find out she’s pregnant when they run a blood test or something.

  18. 1634. Lightning Swing

@ 1642: Karen was pregnant in the episode, “Lecture Circuit”, so there’s a possibility that she could be on maternity leave. I can’t wait for tonight’s season finale and to see what the big twist is at the end!

  19. 1633. Scrantonicity 3

I’m upset it’s only a half hour episode!

  20. 1632. jp halpsly

I’m guessing that the relationship that does not progress will be JAM’s. Not to say that they’ll regress or have some sort of negativity, they’re just in a stable place right now.
