The Office Set Visit 2009: Day 5

The Office Set Visit 2009

Just one more thing: here is the end-of-season gift that was presented to every member of the staff on this last day of filming — a special Dunder Mifflin edition of the Flip Mino HD video camera!

I believe that Jenna Fischer mentioned this camera in one of her previous MySpace blogs. I borrowed my boyfriend’s Flip to shoot The Mindy Song, so I can attest to the fact that it’s a fantastic gadget!

And one of the cool things is you can add a personalized “skin” to the camera, which is what was done here with the Dunder Mifflin logo and all.

The inscription reads: “The Office Season 5. Thanks for 100 great ones! (That’s what she said.) JF JK RW SC”

Here is the gift card that came with each Flip camera.

How completely cool is that?

Random notes

  • At one point, Jenna asked me, “So what’s been the best part of your week?” And my answer was … well, you’ll just have to see for yourself when you watch The Office Season 5 DVD. That’s right, part of my cameo never made it into the aired version. But it did make it as a deleted scene! Just remember, the expression on my face is one of total and genuine surprise, because … I didn’t know that David Wallace would say what he said. ;)
  • More than four months after it happened, it’s been fun looking at all the photos again and reliving one of the best weeks of my life. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would get to spend an entire week with The Office cast and staff, let alone be in an episode! It’s been an absolute blast, and I thank everyone at the show and at NBC for making me feel so welcome. And as always, it’s been my privilege to share my obsessive reports with all of you fellow Office fans! :)

  1. Oh come on. Humor us. How many shots did it take to perfect the mid-air Jenna Fischer action shot? Just ballpark?

  2. Tanster! As always, a spot-on report.

    Perfect for us obsessive Office-lovers.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  3. Your pictures of Jenna pretending to serve are more believable than the footage that played in the episode.

[from tanster: lol. jenna did a great job!]

  4. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This was a fabulous report of what was obviously a fabulous week. You’re the best — the absolute best!

  5. I LOVE that Jenna gets photo credit for the John Tanster picture. It’s a “Here is a photo of me taken by Jenna Fischer” I’d have had to reverse it though, picture of me and Jenna taken by John K.

  6. It’s always so exciting to read your set reports, Tanster! Thank you so much for sharing them with us :)

  7. Just thought I’d point out–Friday was April 17th, not the 16th. (I only know this because the 17th was my birthday!)

    Thanks for the great report!

    [from tanster: oops. thanks!]

  8. Pic Thoughts with phyllis*farm:

I like to think in that second volleyball picture that Phyllis is demonstrating her Zone of Attack. Though I’m not sure which is funnier: “If anything comes here it’s mine!” or “This is as far as I’m willing to move.”

I love that Jenna photo. I keep expecting it to rotate Matrix-style until the ball smacks me in the face. Or maybe that’s wishing…

I sooooo wanna jam with Ed and Creed.

I could totally see Ryan and Kelly on a cheerleading squad together.

I get the feeling that Kim-hair and Kim-props are known as such on the crew.

[from tanster: actually, that is exactly how the two Kims are referred to on set!]

  9. I love the on set posts. Is there any way we can see full sized pictures? It won’t let me click on them to blow them up?

    [from tanster: no, sorry!]

  10. Thanks for the latest scoop! I almost liked it better so spaced out, I think it made me appreciate the posts more. Those are some great action shots of Jenna. She has better form than me and I’ve played volleyball for 17 years now [yikes..]. I often print my action shots and get them auto’d by athletes; you should print one of hers and have her sign it. :)

[from tanster: omg, an autographed volleyball shot — that is an awesome idea!!!]

Thanks again. Hope you get some more visits in this season. Maybe they’ll ask you to be in the delivery room in a few months. ;P

  11. Oh. My. Word. I am practically drooling over the Dunder Mifflin Flip. Oh, how I wish the NBC store would sell those to us mere mortals!

[from tanster: i am forwarding your comment to the NBC Store.]

And, as always, thank you for all the pictures and the wonderful reporting, tanster! I think my favorite pic is the one of you discussing the script with Paul Feig. ;) I can’t wait to see your deleted scene!

[from tanster: thanks! it’s pretty dorky.]

  12. thanks for getting the last part of the report up! those photos you took of jenna “mid-flight” are AMAZING! has jenna seen them?

[from tanster: thanks! i need to send them to her.]

  13. Thank you so much for sharing all of your pictures & stories with us. I think it’s cool just reading about it, I can’t even begin to imagine how it must have been to be there!

  14. Wow Tanster, I’m really jealous. Do people ever recognize you on the street now?

[from tanster: lol, only when I’m in Scranton for The Office Convention! :) ]

  15. If you get one signed, would you get one for me too? Awesome ideas deserve awesome rewards. :)

  16. New to the site…so jealous, Tanster! Seeing it filmed in person is a great way to spend a day I bet. I feel like they all must be so great in real life, like they really enjoy time on set. They seem like such a happy group. Thanks for the pics!

  17. Wow, this is so cool! Congrats, and thanks for all the awesome pictures and info! I love that picture of Ed and Creed playing the banjo and guitar

  18. More than a decade later and this post suddenly became relevant again thanks to the Office Ladies!
