Comments on: TV Guide’s Dream Emmy Ballot 2007

I’m a little late on the ball, but I wanted to respond re: Ed Helms not being in half of the episodes – for most of the season it’s my understanding he was just credited as a guest star, not a supporting actor, so my assumption is that for those episodes he would be nominated based on what he’s credited as – I don’t really understand the ins and outs of Emmy nominations, but I stand by the fact that someone who was a regular cast member in each and every episode and a major player at that should considered over someone who, for most of the season at least, was a minor player and guest star.

Someone’s going to kill me for this but this season, I thought Ed Helms was way better that John Kras. I mean John had his golden moments for sure, impersonating Dwight to name one, but everytime Ed Helms did, said, or sang anything I just died of laughter.

I love the TV Guide podcast, too, but I absolutely dread it when they start talking about The Office because I KNOW I’m going to disagree with what they say.

I actually agree with all of these.

I honestly find Angela’s performances better than Jenna’s. Her Pam’s ok, but nothing special…Plus, seeing Jenna in anything else is just painful to watch.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention the TV Guide critics’ notorious hatred of Dwight. The people on the TV Guide podcast (Ausiello and a few other writers) are pretty much anti-Office in general, which drives me crazy! Actually, they were pretty complimentary about the last few episodes (which were obviously stellar), but usually it’s all criticism.

As much as I love Jenna, the real crime here is the exclusion of Rainn Wilson. He makes me laugh more than Steve. Seriously.

you guys should go to tv guide’s webpage using the link on here and post that they should include Jenna Fischer for her portrayal of Pam Beesly on The Office. The tv guide article asks people to leave their feedback and say if you think some actors/shows should be included and/or left off of their list.

I can see why Jenna was left off. Pam was one of the more serious characters this season. In fact when you think about it, the season revolved around her, but she wasn’t necessarily at the center of the jokes. She did a great job acting, but it is a comedy nomination. Better question is how was Rainn slighted by TV Guide. I felt he was fantastic this season.

i agree with these, save for the lack of rainn.

i love jenna to death, but she and pam act more as the emotional heart rather than the comedic spark. she’s very good at reacting to other people in the office, but she’s not really ever leading any jokes.

i think angela is so fantastic, and ed has provided some of the biggest laughs. john has always been excellent, and of course, steve’s a pro.

I know I submitted my two cents earlier, but with any of the award nominations, I do wonder why Rainn, John, and Jenna are considered ‘supporting’. I guess I think that all the characters are equally important. But I’m just curious as to who categorizes the actors? Is it the cast and crew themselves?

This is not the Emmy nominations – just one guy’s opinion.

The Office has such an extremely talented cast – inevitably some very strong performances (eg., Melora’s in the Job) will probably not get nominated just so that other shows get their toes in. Jenna should really be in the lead actress category – she is the only one of the 5 major stars who is a woman and she is featured pretty heavily in every episode.
