  1. Ok Ausiello rocks my socks, but WTF?!!!! How can he NOT nominate Jenna Fischer?!!! She was AMAZING all season, but particularly the last few episodes.

    Come on Ausiello!!!!!

  2. WTF? No Jenna Fischer?! She was the heart and soul of the third season and her performance in The Job was amazing.

  3. I love me some Angela Kinsey, but there is zero justice, logic, or sense in a world where Jenna Fischer does not, at the very minimum, get nominated for an Emmy. Come on!

  4. Why isn’t anyone upset that there isn’t any Rainn Wilson!? Come on people, for realsies, he and Steve are the best comedy duo going. I love John but I highly doubt that he’ll get nominated over Rainn and Ed for this season.

  5. John is a good actor but they didn’t give him good material to work with this year. I’d remove him from that ballot and add Rainn. I’m really glad to see Helms get noticed, his character is pure joy.

  6. My Dream Emmy Ballot: The ENTIRE cast all get special Super-Duper Emmys for being on the best show on television! I doubt that’ll happen, so . . . yeah, what’s up with leaving out Jenna and Rainn? Dwight is one of the most original, hilarious characters to hit TV. Ausiello, you’re crazy.

  7. Well it would be nice to see Jenna on the ballot, I don’t have high hopes for her actually making it on there so I’ll give them one especially with Angela up there as she was amazing this season. Thank god he included The Office and Steve or I’d be super pissed. The biggest travesty is really Rainn not getting up on there as I think he was a lot better than John and Ed (although I love them too). I will wait for the official ballots until I get riled up though.

  8. I think Jam clouds everybody’s judgment. Angela kicks ass. Jenna’s performance hardly comes close.

  9. “That’s Tom Hanks sex appeal…” Haha!! Too funny!
I think Angela has a great shot at a nomination (again, not only for a wonderful performance, but also because the lackluster comedy offerings this season have offered few performances to hold a candle to hers). I think Jenna will snag a nomination, if not the win in that category, especially if two “Fugly Betty” can cancel each other out to remove any competition.
Rayne might also win this year; “The Coup” was great for him, as was “The Return,” “Back from Vacation…” the list goes on…

  10. I agree that Rainn Wilson should be nominated and more so than Ed Helms (not because I don’t love Ed but because he wasn’t there for half the season). The problem is that Emmy noms are based on one episode only and don’t take into account the entire body of work done by a person over the course of the entire year. I know this is a practical consideration for the Emmy folks who can’t watch every episode of every show.
P.S. Although Rainn is being touted for The Coup, my favourite “Dwight” this year was Cocktails – Dwight as home inspector was priceless!! On the other hand, he should have won for “Dwight’s Speech” last year.

  11. Dwight’s finest moment of the 2006-2007 season was clearly Back From Vacation. “Who did this to you?” The jacket. “PMSing real bad”.

    Game.
    Set.
    Match.

  12. Yeah, Rainn should definitely be there instead of Ed. And while I love Angela Kinsey, Jenna definitely deserves an Emmy nod as well, if not more so. She was very amazing in “Beach Games” & “The Job”, and also the rest of the season as well.

  13. Um….let’s hope the real Emmy people have better sense than Ausiello!

  14. I’d say Steve, Jenna, and maybe Melora all deserve noms for this year. Maybe Ed, but I don’t think the show will get more than three noms altogether (including the show getting nominated as best comedy, and excluding the writing, etc.)

  15. “I think Jam clouds everybody’s judgment. Angela kicks ass. Jenna’s performance hardly comes close.”

You said it. As does Melora Hardin. But everyone is so clouded with all that is Jam to see that Angela and Melora are totally kickin it too. I’d personally love to see Melora steal the nom. That’d be awesome and she’d deserve it.

  16. “I think Jam clouds everybody’s judgment…everyone is so clouded with all that is Jam”

Saying Jenna deserves a nomination is NOT Jam-clouded judgement. You can look at her performance through the season objectively to see how challenging it was and how phenomenal she was. Saying it’s just Jam fanaticism overwhelming fact is simply moronic.

  17. I love all the Office noms that were included but I do agree that Jenna and Rainn should be on as well, and maybe even Melora (though in reality I do realize that The Office probably won’t dominate the real nominations, even though they should). I do love that Angela and Ed were recognized though. And TobyFan (#12) – Ed was in more than half the season – he was only missing from about 5 episodes or so from the 24-25 total.

  18. The Office
    Steve Carell
    Jenna Fischer
    Rainn Wilson
–thats my hope for the Emmy’s.

  19. I’m not a JAM fan (Team Karen all the way) and I disagree
Jenna kills it. she def deserved a nod. the way she shows her emotions with simple gestures or facial expressions is absolutely amazing.

  20. OMG. Jenna Should totally be on there for the last 2 episodes of the season. Was he sleeping through THE JOB?

  21. I agree Jenna should have been nominated also, but, that is awesome that Angela got the nod, I love seeing the minor characters represented, because they are also totally awesome.

  22. I’m not getting what’s going on here…what differentiates LEAD vs. SUPPORTING? If Angela is supporting (which I would agree with), Jenna, John and Rainn should be in leading actor categories. Why is Steve Carell the only one that gets to lead?

I think Jenna deserves the nomination, and it has nothing to do with JAM. The relationship that grew this season between Pam and Michael pretty much superseded any JAM action, in my opinion.

  23. I’m more surprised that Rainn’s not on his list. I always thought Rainn would be the first of the cast to win the Emmy, much like Michael Richards was the first Seinfeld cast member to win – they’re both much more obvious with the “comedy” aspect of their performances than the other actors on the show, imo.

When the nominations come out, I only truly expect Steve and the show to be nominated, which is better than nothing!

  24. honestly…john’s a [talented] hottie, but does he really belong on there instead of rainn?

  25. I am sooooo happy people have finally recognized Angela Kinsey in this role. She is one of my favorites on the show. I am a little disappointed that Rainn wasn’t recognized, but hopefully, in the real nominations, we’ll see plenty of our officemates soaking up all the glory. hehehehe. btw, love the Tom Hanks vs. John Krasinksi. it totally works.

  26. I’m glad to see that Ausiello and Roush at TV GUIDE finally woke up to the genius of The Office this year.

They’ve probably been some of the last critics in America to get onboard. I mean, last year, the show didn’t even make their list for comedy series. And that was the year that it won the actual award.

Their choices mean next to nothing, and it’s not like Emmy voters are going to consult TV Guide before voting. Still, though, as much as I like Angela, Jenna deserves this nomination probably more than any other actor on TV this year.
I really don’t think you can find a more intriguing character arc that was performed better for this season.

Don’t be surprised by Wilson’s absence: Ausiello and Roush still HATE Dwight. Ausiello has called him the most overrated sitcom character in TV history. Ouch.

Just be glad for the love of Krasinski, Carell, Helms, and Kinsey.

  27. No offense, but Ed Helms? No Rainn? I love, love, love Angela, but, Jenna? Where are you?

hmmm…but, I hope they defend their “Best Comedy” status!

  28. This is not the Emmy nominations – just one guy’s opinion.

The Office has such an extremely talented cast – inevitably some very strong performances (eg., Melora’s in the Job) will probably not get nominated just so that other shows get their toes in. Jenna should really be in the lead actress category – she is the only one of the 5 major stars who is a woman and she is featured pretty heavily in every episode.

  29. Jenna is great and all but she’s not the source of the funny, she just works with some weird people and reacts to them sometimes.

  30. I know I submitted my two cents earlier, but with any of the award nominations, I do wonder why Rainn, John, and Jenna are considered ‘supporting’. I guess I think that all the characters are equally important. But I’m just curious as to who categorizes the actors? Is it the cast and crew themselves?

  31. i agree with these, save for the lack of rainn.

i love jenna to death, but she and pam act more as the emotional heart rather than the comedic spark. she’s very good at reacting to other people in the office, but she’s not really ever leading any jokes.

i think angela is so fantastic, and ed has provided some of the biggest laughs. john has always been excellent, and of course, steve’s a pro.

  32. I can see why Jenna was left off. Pam was one of the more serious characters this season. In fact when you think about it, the season revolved around her, but she wasn’t necessarily at the center of the jokes. She did a great job acting, but it is a comedy nomination. Better question is how was Rainn slighted by TV Guide. I felt he was fantastic this season.

  33. you guys should go to tv guide’s webpage using the link on here and post that they should include Jenna Fischer for her portrayal of Pam Beesly on The Office. The tv guide article asks people to leave their feedback and say if you think some actors/shows should be included and/or left off of their list.

  34. Weird to see Steve Carrel up against Ricky Gervais for Best Actor: Michael Scott goes mano a mano with his original incarnation.

  35. wow. i’m pissed. where the hell is jenna fischer?! she was INCREDIBLE!

  36. its a good thing this isnt the real Emmy ballots. Ed Helms over Rainn Wilson?? Really?? I am glad that they are showing some appreciation for Extras though.

  37. As much as I love Jenna, the real crime here is the exclusion of Rainn Wilson. He makes me laugh more than Steve. Seriously.

  38. I was wondering when someone was going to mention the TV Guide critics’ notorious hatred of Dwight. The people on the TV Guide podcast (Ausiello and a few other writers) are pretty much anti-Office in general, which drives me crazy! Actually, they were pretty complimentary about the last few episodes (which were obviously stellar), but usually it’s all criticism.

  39. I actually agree with all of these.

I honestly find Angela’s performances better than Jenna’s. Her Pam’s ok, but nothing special…Plus, seeing Jenna in anything else is just painful to watch.

  40. I love the TV Guide podcast, too, but I absolutely dread it when they start talking about The Office because I KNOW I’m going to disagree with what they say.

  41. Someone’s going to kill me for this but this season, I thought Ed Helms was way better that John Kras. I mean John had his golden moments for sure, impersonating Dwight to name one, but everytime Ed Helms did, said, or sang anything I just died of laughter.

  42. I’m a little late on the ball, but I wanted to respond re: Ed Helms not being in half of the episodes – for most of the season it’s my understanding he was just credited as a guest star, not a supporting actor, so my assumption is that for those episodes he would be nominated based on what he’s credited as – I don’t really understand the ins and outs of Emmy nominations, but I stand by the fact that someone who was a regular cast member in each and every episode and a major player at that should considered over someone who, for most of the season at least, was a minor player and guest star.
