Original stars to visit The Office

From this morning’s headlines at contactmusic.com:

The British stars of the original The Office show are set to visit the US version of the hit comedy to shoot cameo roles. Ben Silverman, who executive produces the American version for NBC, claims employees of Slough, England paper company Wernham Hogg could find themselves sharing an office with Scranton, Pennsylvania company Dunder Mifflin.

Silverman tells the New York Post newspaper, “There’s a lot of love between (the casts and crews) of the two versions of the show.” “Expect some cameos from the UK paper company.” While Silverman refuses to name which stars will be appearing, he does say the show’s creator Ricky Gervais, who played cringeworthy boss David Brent in the UK version, won’t be on the US comedy anytime soon. He says, “We’re going to save the big man for now.”

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

  1. How exciting! Fun fun fun. Yet another thing to anticipate. Now, will the new season hurry up and start, already? The withdrawl is starting to affect my work…

  2. Tim, this is Jim. Jim, Tim. This would be very cool but very confusing. As for Gareth and Dwight, my head may explode with those two in the same room.

  3. whoa you have no idea how excited that makes me. if dawn, tim or garreth rock up to scranton, i may die.

  4. This is the best thing I could imagine for Season 3! It is news like this that will make my Monday tolerable here at my office!

    Oggy oggy oggy!!!

  5. OMG I hope Martin Freeman makes a cameo!!!! I would die if I saw Martin and John in the same scene together…SCORE!!

But wait, will the UK cast appear as their characters from the original series or as a different character? Like for example… Lucy Davis(Dawn) shows up but plays a different character like say…some lady from corporate?

  6. I kind of feel like they’d have to be pretty subtle about they way they work the UK folks in to avoid being too gimmicky. They’d have to have a real purpose for being there beyond just a wink-wink to the viewers who are familiar with the original. I would like to see Gareth charm his way into Angela’s heart, though. And anytime I can look at Lucy Davis is a good day.

  7. I’m so excited for the possibility that Tim and Jim might share some screen time together! If that happens…genius. My head will probably explode if they’re together in an episode. It would be…a good death :-P

Now i’m even more excited for the third season. As if it wasn’t exciting enough! This is icing on the cake!

Oh, and Brian, i agree about being subtle with bringing in the UK Office cast. That’s a must. I’m sure the writers will have it covered, though. I can’t imagine how happy the US Office cast is, i’m sure.

  8. I actually had a dream about this the other day. Martin Freeman and John Krasinski in one room.

    My head just might explode.

I didn’t think it was possible to love this show more.

  9. Four “explodes,” so far. But that’s just an expression, right? Like “blow your brains out” . . .

I’ve never seen the UK Office, but even I might have to add another explosion.

  10. Ha ha, no need to apologize, Elisabeth! The fact that your head would explode just proves how awesome Tim and Jim are! I completely agree! Explosions all around, (including you, NSpector, b/c it’s plausible that your head may explode)! I can see it now, when Tim and Jim come on screen together, there will be simultaneous head explosions across the nation! Amazing!…of course, they’d lose viewers after that, not so good.

    Explosions: millions Survivors: 0

  11. That would be soooooooooo amazing! I hope that this entire plan goes through- it would be the best episode yet!

  12. Oh man, that’s awesome news! I’d love to see how Gareth and Dwight would get along. And Tim might have some good advice for his counterpart Jim. Can’t wait to see what happens.

  13. Just had a random thought here, what if they all worked in the Stamford office that Jim may be transfering to. That would make it sort of a bizzaro version of The Office. That would be weird though if they all had British accents or even more inexplicable if they were actually playing their British characters. But if they could pull it off, it would be pretty cool.

  14. They’ve given up (this season at least) having the British cast on, due to scheduling conflicts. Just posting in case someone new to the party shows up here. :)
