What if Quentin Tarantino directed an episode of ‘The Office’?

According to B.J. Novak, who co-stars in Tarantino’s latest film, ‘Inglourious Basterds,’ the request has been made.

  1. If he did it like Kill Bill and could even help writing it, my lord..best episode ever.

  2. aiieeee…..I can’t see that being a good thing. I mean, it’d probably be fine and all, but if I had my druthers I’d say no. The Office has certainly grown and expanded from the original formula–they go outside the office more, it’s more continuous and less episodic, etc.–but it’s all felt very organic. I think a director like Quentin Tarantino would make the episode all wonky and not Office-like. You know?

  3. In regards to a show that is already kind of “set in stone” I don’t think the director would have too much affect on it. If you didn’t know Joss Whedon directed “Business School” you never would have guessed it was done by someone else.

Let Quentin direct if he wants to.

  4. Tarantino said he’s seen the show, but he swerved around that “What would it be like” question so fast, it makes me doubt it!
Either way, I doubt it’ll happen.

  5. I wouldn’t want to see him direct an episode, but how about one of the movies JAM and Andy watch, like the one from the Super Bowl episode this year?

  6. b.j. annoyed at the end? i didn’t pick up that at all, i think he was joking – he was being funny. speaking of which, mindy was hilarious. she is the funniest woman on the planet (tied with jane lynch).

  7. Anybody else think Tarantino was scrambling to think of a polite way to say that he will never direct an episode of The Office? ;) Just the impression that I got! I love that B.J. asked him, though.

  8. Tarantino is an amazing director but I cannot imagine what kind of episode this would turn into if he directed it. This is exactly why I think it would at least bring in great ratings. Everyone would have certain expectations but since Tarantino would be somewhat restricted he’d have to become even more creative in order to direct it.

  9. Ugh, I hope that doesn’t happen. I can’t stand Quentin Tarantino. I don’t think it would ever happen, though. It’s not the right genre for him…

  10. Tarantino directed the live episode of ER way back when, which is close to documentary style. He’s also directed a CSI episode. It would be a publicity stunt, but he wouldn’t do anything unusual.
