Megan’s report of B.J. Novak’s appearance at Providence College
I saw B.J. Novak’s comedy show last night at Providence College (my alma mater) in RI, and it was fantastic.
B.J. started the show with a funny story about getting locked out of the building right before his performance. He then shared how he got lost driving from his family’s house outside Boston to Providence. I have a video of his altercation with the “On Star” lady that I can send in a separate email attachment if you’d like.
There were many memorable sketches throughout the evening. B.J. read from his new children’s book — “Wikipedia Brown” — and introduced the audience to “Shy Puppet,” a bashful frog that didn’t talk. B.J. also gave several shout-outs to New England and the Boston area, doing a great Boston/RI accent in one of his jokes.
At the end of his routine, B.J. took questions from the audience. He promised us that after the Quentin Tarantino movie, he will be returning to The Office in some capacity in January, but said he couldn’t say any more.
He also explained Ryan’s bad decisions over the past few years, including the Cheesy Pita Fire and why he keeps going back to Kelly Kapoor. And when asked to do push-ups for us, he happily obliged!
I have been a JKras fan since the beginning, and wasn’t sure what I’d think of B.J.’s performance last night. I’m happy to say I enjoyed every moment of the show last night, though, and now I’m starting to wonder which of these two Newton-born Office men I love more. Great job, B.J.!
