  1. Ewww. Sorry, but that did not look like an appealing movie. Pitt’s comical accent plus Nazis plus bloody violence plus BJ’s ugly haircut does not equal fun. Maybe it was just the trailer…

  2. Interesting trailer. Definitely something different for B.J.! And to be involved in a project with Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino is huge. Go B.J.!

  3. I agree with you EarlyWorm (#4). Mr. Pitt’s accent is blehck. (Only word I could think of to describe it.) It is different for Mr. Novak and I hope it furthers his career. The plot is cool though.

  4. I foresee quite a bit of “saving Private Ryan” jokes. Also, watching the trailer I couldn’t help but think of Brad Pitt’s character as a WWII Michael Scott giving one of his pep talks in Scranton.

  5. I’m sure it will be great, but this looks ridiculously terrifying…
Lol, you’re definitely right about Saving Private Ryan jokes, Mose, that’s the first thing I thought of!

  6. The interviews were great, especially the one from the AV Club. I hope I can aspire to be a writer like B.J. Novak someday in my own right. As for the film, little too violent for me but Quentin Tartino is very talented at what he does, as seen through his past creations. Congrads to Mr. Novak!

  7. B.J. said a few things in the AV interview that really hit home with me eg. “…I would pat myself on the back for being really successful, which I think just made me sadder and made me feel emptier.”

It gives me hope that someone so successful and intelligent has also experienced professional struggles and been conflicted.

He is by far my favourite on the DVD commentaries, I love his perspective and always enjoy what he has to say.

[from tanster: B.J. is one of the most thoughtful people I’ve ever met. And wicked funny. It’s a disconcerting combination. :) ]

  8. Just saw a trailer for the movie on television – featured not one, but two prominent shots of BJ with Brad Pitt. I felt a ridiculous amount of pride. I hope it makes a tonne of money and he gets lots of recognition (just promise not to leave us again!).

  9. every time i hear b.j. interviewed i am so impressed with how articulate, intelligent and thoughtful he is. and, yes tanster, wicked funny! but aside from that he consistently delivers some of the best and most enjoyable and insightful interviews from any actor or writer out there. i feel really proud too, especially after meeting him at one of his stand up shows! he deserves all the success in the world.
