Niagara: even though there aren’t a lot of cast members present, the Niagara commentaries feature a lot of behind the scene trivia that will be of interest to hardcore fans, including: where the idea of “mental pictures” came from, where the idea of Jim’s cut tie came from, whose idea was it for Michael to hook up with Pam’s mom at the wedding, how the show faked out the paparazzi during the filming of ‘Niagara,’ the special Kleenex box shoes that were built for Kevin, and whether the “Beesly/Halpret wedding” sign was intentionally misspelled or a goof!
The Delivery: I think this was my favorite commentary of the bunch, mainly because of Jenna. She tells lots of anecdotes and trivia-y stuff. It’s also a pleasure to listen to Jenna, Greg, Danny, Charlie, and Seth laugh at all the same jokes that we do when we watch as the audience. How many minutes can you legally work with a baby at one time? How many babies were on set? Why did they decide for the baby to be a girl instead of a boy? Which scene actually showed a fake baby? Jenna tells a great story about Brian and the voice he uses for Kevin. Will we see more Isabel? What was the alternative ending to the episode?
Happy Hour: this was a fun one because it was the commentary that had the most cast members. They chat about how sore they were during the push-up cold open, Kevin’s one obscene gesture during Erin and Andy’s talking head that they couldn’t believe made it past the censors, the idea behind Kevin making crying noises at Pam’s breasts, and how Rainn reacts to broad comedy ideas. The whole crew also discusses how the media (including OfficeTally!) would react if Creed had actually died while excessively playing Dance Dance Revolution. And of course, B.J. goes into more detail about Hide’s awesome tag.
