Ricky Gervais talks about The Office

Sunday, August 20th, 2006 | 4 comments

Entertainment Weekly speaks to Ricky Gervais about some of his current projects. Ricky also talks a little bit about the The Office:

Are you pleased with the way the American version of The Office has evolved into its own show?

It’s my favorite sitcom. You try to make shows that you want to watch. I did with The Office, I’m doing it now with Extras. It’s the show you wish someone else had made, but I had to make it. With the American Office, it’s the best of both worlds because someone else made it, and it’s just how I wanted it. So it’s a joy.

I can’t wait for For Your Consideration!

Me either! John Krasinski and Ricky Gervais in the same movie will surely cause something in my brain to explode.

I just finished watching the UK Office, and I can’t get my head around the idea that David Brent doesn’t exist. It’s confusing, like who writes Kevin’s blog, him or Brian Baumgartner. My head hurts now.

I know it’s old news in a way, but he does at least confirm for sure he and Merchant have written an episode for Season 3 of the US Office:
    What’s next for you?
“Me and Steve have written an episode of the American Office. That’ll be part of season 3.”
