Fan report from Lila
I went to the games on Saturday and it was such a good time! The line started around 5:30am to buy the board games, and at 8:00am they started selling them from Boscov’s (which back at the convention, Mindy did mention was a store that Kelly would love).
The first activity was the Fun Run. The first group were the hardcore runners, and then the rest of us just walked. Mindy also walked it too (in a pair of flip flops) and was so nice to speak with fans the whole time. All runners/walkers got a free t-shirt too.
Next, they presented awards for fastest participants and look-a-likes. Not many people dressed up, so this part was kinda lame. They ended up picking random dads and saying “Oh, it’s Dwight with sunglasses!”
Next was the Trivia contest. Some questions were easy (What’s Dwight’s middle name?), while other’s were quite tough (What high school did Pam attend?). When it was your turn, you stood next to Mindy while she asked you a trivia question.
If you were correct, you moved onto the next round. She admitted that even as a writer, there were some questions that stumped her too. The last two girls standing were amazing, they knew everything!
Winners of each contest took home awards that looked like a mix of a Dundie and a Dwight bobblehead. They also got The Office DVD game and pictures with Mindy. I was so impressed with how sweet and accessible Mindy was the whole day.
The best event was the Beet eating contest. You had 4 minutes to eat as many beets as possible, and for the first 2 minutes, you could not use your hands! Faces were covered in beet juice and people were throwing up back into their bowl of beets.
They were a couple of girls participating, and even a 12 year old kid too. The winner’s strategy was to drink all of juice, as the bowls were weighed. Even Mindy threw an apron on and stuck her face in a bowl of beets.
At the end of the day, Mindy autographed the board games for everyone. She was sweet enough to personalize messages for each person. It was a great day of events!
