Rainn Wilson talks to Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair speaks to The Office’s Rainn Wilson about his third Emmy nomination, his role in the Twitterverse, and spirituality through vomiting. (Warning: NSFW for language)

One minute you think you’ve got [Rainn Wilson] pegged—he pops up on hipster TV shows like Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Reno 911, and hipster movies like Juno and The Rocker—and then he surprises everybody by launching a seemingly non-satiric website called Soul Pancake, which purports to “make discussions about spirituality, creativity, and philosophy cool again.” Wilson is either a comedic mastermind, working on levels the rest of us couldn’t begin to understand, or he’s a real-life Dwight Schrute who just got very, very lucky.

ok…I loved Rainn in this interview but some of the interviewer’s questions seemed pretty rude.

I agree. Rainn is amazing and I love him, but what was wrong with the interviewer? I’m sensing some animosity towards Rainn.

Good interview, but I have to agree that the interviewer’s questions seemed a little rude.

Wow that interview was pretty rude! I am pretty shocked by how insensitive that guy was. Sheesh.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has no idea what all this tweeting stuff is.

Yeah, what an obnoxious interviewer. In general I’d like to learn more about the person being interviewed, not the interviewer.

    Love Rainn.
    Hate the interviewer.

The interviewer’s sole intent seemed to be to provoke Rainn to fight back and insult his castmates and fellow Emmy nominees, all in the name of more exciting copy for the media. Has Vanity Fair really sunk that low?

Rainn not only didn’t take the bait, but seemed to try to diffuse the situation rather than embarrass the interviewer. I’ve never been a big fan of Rainn’s, but I am now.

I’m totally basing this off this one interview I’ve read but I think it might be the interviewer’s schtick to push the envelope. I don’t think we’re supposed to take it seriously.

wow! That was way too much Interviewer and way too little Rainn.
