The Office wins ‘Best Comedy’ TCA award

The TCA (Television Critics Association) has awarded The Office its Best Comedy award for the second year in a row. Awards were presented tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

“The Office’’ producer Greg Daniels says he spent the whole day reading “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. “I’m on page 450, and it’s good,’’ Daniels says. “If we adapt it for American audiences, it could be really successful.’’

He then introduced the cast that showed up for the awards – and said how he would cast them as “Harry Potter’’ characters. Brian Baumgartner as Hagrid; Mindy Kaling as Pavarti, or Luna; Angela Kinsey as Delores Umbridge; Kate Flannery as Aunt Petunia; Oscar Nunez as Viktor Krum; Leslie David Baker as Mr. Dursley and Creed Bratton as Lucius Malfoy.

Congratulations, Office gang!

The Office Kate Flannery

  1. haha i was wondering who on the office staff had read harry potter, after the various references they’ve made on the show (prison mike & “VOLDEMORT! VOLDEMORT!”). now we know at least one person. those match-ups are hilarious, especially mindy and angela’s.

  2. Awesome news!

According to this blog post there were 2 more Harry Potter character assignments: Kate Flannery as Aunt Petunia and Creed Bratton as Lucius Malfoy.

  3. Congrats to the Office gang again. And knowing that Greg spent some of his day reading HP is hilarious and the comparisons. I think Angela and Umbridge would so get along.

  4. Thats really great! I guess the whole world is reading Harry Potter right not. They all look fantastic.

  5. Hearty congrats to everyone involved with “The Office”! They totally deserve it for the great work they’ve put in this past season. It’s really nice to see our little show being honored (for the second straight year!) by folks who watch TV for a living.

  6. Congrats to everyone on The Office. They deserve all of the recognition they’re getting and more!

I wonder if there will be any video on the acceptance speeches.

  7. I so hope this means that there will be a new Harry Potter reference in season 4!!!! Maybe Jim trying to spoil the ending to Dwight? I love the references they’ve already done.

Now I’m trying to figure out who Dwight, Jim, Pam and Michael would all be. hmmm.

  8. Nice photos of all of them. Classy yet down to earth. And I think I envy Warren Lieberstein.

As to Potter, I see Jan as Hermione.

  9. Congrats to the Office! I was right there reading HP too. Angela is NOT Umbridge – eww! There’s a difference between controlling and pure evil. And Sara – 15 – Creed is definitely Mundungus1

  10. Harry Potter and The Office in one entry? I think I just broke my brain.

Congrats to Greg and the gang!
