The Office wins ‘Best Comedy’ TCA award

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

The TCA (Television Critics Association) has awarded The Office its Best Comedy award for the second year in a row. Awards were presented tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

“The Office’’ producer Greg Daniels says he spent the whole day reading “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. “I’m on page 450, and it’s good,’’ Daniels says. “If we adapt it for American audiences, it could be really successful.’’

He then introduced the cast that showed up for the awards – and said how he would cast them as “Harry Potter’’ characters. Brian Baumgartner as Hagrid; Mindy Kaling as Pavarti, or Luna; Angela Kinsey as Delores Umbridge; Kate Flannery as Aunt Petunia; Oscar Nunez as Viktor Krum; Leslie David Baker as Mr. Dursley and Creed Bratton as Lucius Malfoy.

Congratulations, Office gang!

    Pam - Cho

    Angela - Umbridge
Dwight - Percy (pre deathly hallows)

and i kinda see michael as mr. weasley gone bad. very bad.

  4. Congrats all around, I couldn’t be happier! Kate and Angela are knockouts! They look really great!!

  5. Congrats to The Office - they deserve every award they receive. Kate looks sooooo hot in that dress !! Her hair is the most gorgeous red !!

  6. I absolutely love that Greg Daniels loves Harry Potter and was among those who read the book this weekend! Two of my fave things are The Office and Harry Potter, so I love the HP references in The Office. I also hope they throw a few things in next season too! So who would Michael Scott be in the HP world?

  7. hahahah i can’t believe greg daniels loves harry potter! i finished it last night .. i’m like depressed that it’s over, but it was by far the best book! READ IT.

  8. Creed as Lucius. WTH ô_O But I love you Creed, so it’s ok :P

  9. Well, Ron would be relieved to know that Victor Krum was gay. Except Oscar isn’t gay in real life - I think I’m confusing myself now. I think Jan would be Hermione. Dwight could be Snape. BJ could be Draco. Yes, I spent 24 hours reading the book avoiding all media so the ending wouldn’t be ruined, and I think my brain is still at hogwarts. I hope there are more harry potter references in S4!

  10. Harry Potter and The Office in one entry? I think I just broke my brain.

Congrats to Greg and the gang!

  11. Congrats to the Office! I was right there reading HP too. Angela is NOT Umbridge - eww! There’s a difference between controlling and pure evil. And Sara - 15 - Creed is definitely Mundungus1

  12. I love Creed’s faces in the photos!!

  13. Oh man, I so love Greg Daniels for loving Harry Potter.

  14. congrats to everyone!

and harry potter and the deathly hallows was fantastic!

  15. I’m thinking Creed’s more like Mundungus… too much Harry Potter on the brain today…

  16. Nice photos of all of them. Classy yet down to earth. And I think I envy Warren Lieberstein.

As to Potter, I see Jan as Hermione.

  17. I so hope this means that there will be a new Harry Potter reference in season 4!!!! Maybe Jim trying to spoil the ending to Dwight? I love the references they’ve already done.

Now I’m trying to figure out who Dwight, Jim, Pam and Michael would all be. hmmm.

  18. Hearty congrats to everyone involved with “The Office”! They totally deserve it for the great work they’ve put in this past season. It’s really nice to see our little show being honored (for the second straight year!) by folks who watch TV for a living.

  19. Yay! I’m so happy for all of them! They look amazing.:)

  20. Congrats to everyone on The Office. They deserve all of the recognition they’re getting and more!

I wonder if there will be any video on the acceptance speeches.
