Wearing multiple hats on The Office

Variety has a really interesting article about the challenges of being both an actor and writer — true of several staff members on The Office:

[Paul] Lieberstein, who was strictly a writer before coming to “The Office,” finds his actor mind and producer mind in conflict in another way. [Steve] Carell, he explains, will pounce (in character) on any actor who fumbles an improv.

“He just devours you. If you take too long, he makes fun of you. If you say something that didn’t follow, he makes fun of you. It’s kind of amazing. While I’m watching it as a producer, when I’m not in the scene, it’s definitely something I’m hoping for.”

Update on Jenna

From USA Today:

She has received well-wishes from all her Office co-stars. Steve Carell (Michael) sent flowers with a funny note. John Krasinski (Jim) wrote a “lovely e-mail.” Rainn Wilson (Dwight) placed a call to her room. But it was an NBC doc who really impressed her. “Zach Braff (Scrubs) was at the party when I fell. And bless his heart, the next day he sent a big tray of cupcakes to my hotel. In those first few days, all my husband and I did for pleasure was watch a Larry Sanders DVD and eat those cupcakes.”

Get better soon, Jenna!

Hamilton College talks to Paul Lieberstein

Paul Lieberstein’s alma mater, Hamilton College, interviews him about his various roles on The Office:

Best Part of Your Job: When we are in pre-production, this is the best job in the world. Working 10 to 7, sitting around and brainstorming with the other writers, making things funnier and writing and rewriting scenes — that’s as fun as it gets.

Rover Rescue update

After her accident in New York last week, Jenna asked fans, in lieu of “get well” gifts, to instead make a donation to Rover Rescue, an organization “dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless dogs from Los Angeles animal shelters.”

Rover Rescue’s Cathy Rubin says that donations made in Jenna’s name now total over $1,700!

She adds:

Thanks for your posting on officetally.com in regards to the donations going to Rover Rescue. The response has been amazing. Jenna is so loved by people. It must make her feel really good. And it makes a lot of homeless dogs happy too.

Nicely done, Office (and Jenna) fans. :)
