The Friday Tally

  • New cast member blogs have been updated by Jenna, Angela, Brian, Kate, and Karly (“Madge”). Lots of good reading! Siblings separated at birth, indeed.
  • Movies Online talks to Steve Carell. There’s hardly any Office-related stuff in this interview, but it’s still a thoughtful and poignant read, especially when Steve talks about finding the comedy in tragedy.
  • Los Angeles Times talks to Rainn Wilson. An article from last week about bad haircuts and the origin of Schrute-Space.
  • You guys do know that TVGuide.com has its own Office blog, right? The latest entry recaps yesterday’s webisode. Funny stuff!
  • And lastly, a reminder that the deadline to bid on Jenna’s dress at the Clothes Off Our Back auction is this Monday, August 7. Since I probably can’t even fit my head, much less my whole body, into a size 2 dress, I respectfully take myself out of the running.

Happy birthday to our favorite temp

Happy Birthday, B.J.!

It was way back during the fall of last year when I first became interested in The Office and found B.J.’s website.

Which lead me to MySpace, Jenna’s page, Northern Attack, the idea to start my own site, and the rest is OfficeTally history. ;)

Thanks, B.J., for igniting my obsession for The Office. Have a great day!

P.S. B.J.’s next live appearance will be “B.J. Novak and Friends” at Largo in Los Angeles on Monday, August 28th, with Mindy Kaling (“Kelly”), Craig Robinson (“Darryl”) and “surprise guests.” This has been added to the OT calendar.

The Office panel discussion at USC

The University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinema-Television is presenting a panel discussion with The Office’s creative team this Sunday, July 30th:

Panelists will include:

Co-Executive Producer Paul Lieberstein, who also plays “Toby”
Co-Executive Producer Kent Zbornak
Supervising Producer BJ Novak, who also plays “Ryan” (the temp)
Director Ken Whittingham
Staff Writer and USC Alum Caroline Williams

TVGuide.com interviews Creed Bratton

Creed talks mainly about his band days with the Grass Roots.

An excerpt:

TVGuide.com: Why did you quit the band?
Bratton: I quit because I was asked to leave. I became the problem. I had an attitude.

TVGuide.com: Kind of like Creed on The Office?
Bratton: Pretty much like that. That’s why it’s working so well for me now. The character being burnt out and all this stuff is pretty well on.

More additions to Office cast

Along with Ed Helms, Charles “Chip” Esten (“Whose Line Is It Anyway?”) and Rashida Jones (“Boston Public”) are joining the cast of The Office.

Helms and Jones will play employees at the Scranton, Pa., regional office of the Dunder Mifflin paper supply company where the series is set.

Esten will play Josh Porter, the regional manager at another branch of Dunder Mifflin. He originated the character in the “Valentine’s Day” episode this past season.
