P.S. If you’re interesting in how the Emmy voting process is changing this year, here’s a pretty detailed article about it.

Vote for The Office at the Tater Top Awards!

Our good friend Kathie over at GMMR has sounded the alarms (okay, she sent me an email) — it’s time to vote for The Office at E! Online’s annual Tater Top Awards.

The Office is nominated in the following categories:

  • Breakout Star, Male: John Krasinski
  • Breakout Star, Female: Jenna Fischer
  • Best Fight: Dwight (Rainn Wilson) & Michael (Steve Carell) Kung-Fu Fighting
  • Best Kiss: Jim (John Krasinski) & Pam (Jenna Fischer)
  • Best Chemistry: “JAM,” aka Jim (John Krasinski) & Pam (Jenna Fischer)
  • Best Love Triangle: Jim (John Krasinski), Pam (Jenna Fischer) & Roy (David Denman)
  • Biggest Shocker: Jim’s “I love you” to Pam
  • Favorite Funny Guy: Steve Carell (Michael Scott)
  • Favorite Funny Lady: Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly)
  • Best Comedy: The Office

Go vote now!

P.S. While we’re on the subject of voting, there’s a silly little Steel Cage Matchup over at EW, inexplicably pitting the JAM kiss against Susan and Mike’s clinch in Desperate Housewives. If you’re already in voting mode, you might as well add this one to your list.

The Office scores three TCA nominations!

As reported by TV Guide’s Ausiello Report, the Television Critics Association has just come out with its 2006 award nominations, and The Office did very well!

TV Guide’s Dream Emmy Ballot

TV Guide’s 5th Annual Dream Emmy Ballot is the TVG staff’s Emmy wish list. Since I’m a TVG magazine subscriber, I got my issue ahead of the official announcement (which I think is Thursday).

The Office received two nods:

  • Lead Comedy Actor: Steve Carell (“the height of arrogance … undeniably brilliant”)
  • Supporting Comedy Actor: John Krasinski (“The Office’s secret weapon”)

Yay Steve and John!

But, uh, where is our nomination for Best Comedy?! The nominees that were chosen: Arrested Development, Entourage, Everybody Hates Chris, My Name is Earl, and Scrubs.

We was robbed!

Okay. Must. Calm. Down. This isn’t real, after all!

Update:

Okay, in the online version of the dream ballot, Michael Ausiello says:

… the arrivals of Earl and Chris (not to mention the emergence of The Office, which would have been our sixth nominee) boded uproariously well for the future of the genre.

I feel a little better now.

You can view the full dream ballot here.

Send in your Tater Top Award noms

E! Online is now accepting noms for its 2006 Tater Top Awards.

What are the Tater Tops? — this is “the only TV kudofest where the winners are chosen solely by the fans,” and the noms are fan-driven as well.

Last year’s Tater Tops included two nods for The Office — for Male Breakout Star and Favorite Comedy. (Neither won.)

Here are the categories that I think The Office could clean up in this year:

  • Best Chemistry: Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski
  • Favorite Funnyguy: Steve Carell
  • Best Kiss: Jim and Pam, Casino Night
  • Best Comedy: THE OFFICE!

Find the full list of categories here.

Send your suggestions to [email protected]. Feel free to copy and paste my list right into your email!

I know this ain’t the Emmys. But it is more exposure for our show. And that’s a good thing.
