Steve Carell: Mr. Multi-talented

NEWS.com.au has a funny interview with Steve Carell, who talks, among other things, about his stint as Hammy the squirrel in the animated film, Over The Hedge:

One of Hammy’s special talents is his ability to burp the entire alphabet, and it’s a trait Carell is rather proud of.

“It took me many tries, but it’s a talent. I never thought when I learned to do that at age 13 it would pay off with a major motion picture. I should list it on my resume. I can burp and I own my own tux and I can drive a stick shift. I can do it all. Multi-talented.”

The article also includes Steve’s insight into his hilarious Golden Globe acceptance speech.

Carell to get pay raise?

Hollywood Reporter details a potential pay raise for Steve Carell for Season 3 of The Office:

Sources said the per-episode fee for the “Office” star will more than double next season to the neighborhood of $175,000.

That still seems like a paltry sum, if you ask me, especially if he wins an Emmy this year.

The renegotiated terms of Carell’s deal do not include adding years to the actor’s original contract, sources said.

Does anyone know how many years are stipulated in his original contract? I can’t imagine The Office without him!

Steve Carell talks about writing ‘Casino Night’

Steve Carell talks to Lisa Rosen of the L.A. Times about what it was like to write the upcoming season finale, Casino Night.

For one thing, he tried to get out of writing the episode at one point:

He had essentially one weekend to write the script, and his parents were coming to town for that weekend. So he went into Daniels’ office to try to get out of it. “I said I don’t know if I can give it my full attention, and I don’t want to do a half-baked job of it,” said Carell by phone from the set of “Evan Almighty” in Virginia. “But he is a very persuasive gentleman, and I walked out of the meeting not only still writing the episode, but filled with all sorts of hope and excitement about the episode.”
