EW’s Emmy picks

The June 22nd issue of Entertainment Weekly chooses “the actors and series they’d like to see score some sweet, sweet Emmy love”:

Best Comedy: [The Office] provides loads o’belly laughs, while engaging your emotions: Michael’s unexpectedly fraught relationship with Jan? Pam’s breakthrough on the beach with fiery coals? Hot stuff.

Best Supporting Actress/Comedy: The classic comic leading ladies — from Lucille Ball to Julia Louis-Dreyfus — are brassy broads. Jenna Fischer of The Office is exploring new territory: the funnywoman as a humble, sensitive soul. Her Pam elicits laughs from delighted camera glances and low-key sarcasm, while also winning our hearts … and an Emmy?

The article includes a full-sized photo of Jenna Fischer — check it out after the jump!

Webisodes win Daytime Emmy!

The Office

Last summer’s Office webisodes, The Accountants, has won a 2007 Daytime Emmy award for Best Broadband Comedy!

Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, and Brian Baumgartner were all on hand to accept the award last night in Hollywood.

From NBC.com:

Jenna wrote me to say:

I’m so proud of Angela, Brian and Oscar. They worked really hard on those and showed up in their free time to work on them. It was something they wanted to do for the fans and I’m really proud they got recognized. Randall Einhorn shot and directed them. He’s our usual D.P. — you may have met him during your visit. Anyway, he did a great job. I feel like a proud Mom or something but we really are like family over there …

Tipsters: J, Jenna, Tony

More photos after the jump. Congratulations to all! :)

John Krasinski in People’s ‘Hottest Bachelors’ issue

From BostonHerald.com:

Joining [Chris] Evans in the Hottest Bachelor issue are two more brainy Boston-bred cuties, “The Office” star, John Krasinski and “Wildfire” actor, Ryan Sypek. Because of their impressive education, both Newton homey Krasinski and Wayland native Sypek score a spot on the mag’s “Smarthrobs” list.

Smarthrob sounds like a … oh never mind. ;)

I can’t find any mention of John on People.com’s Hottest Bachelor sneak peak page. I guess we’ll have to wait until the issue is available on newsstands. Which is tomorrow, June 15th …

Greg Daniels at Banff World Television Festival

The Office Executive Producer Greg Daniels is in Banff this week leading a master class for the World Television Festival.

Here are some interesting related articles (I’m tagging this with a SPOILER ALERT because Season 4 is discussed, but nothing is revealed that is earth-shattering):

  • 6/12, Blogcritics Magazine: An Interview with The Office Creator Greg Daniels. “It’s just almost embarrassing when you see the promos for 30 Rock and Scrubs and there’s all these good gags in there, and then there’s ours and it’s all “I loooove you.” And I’m like, OK, that was a good moment, but we had guys in inflatable sumo suits also.”
  • 6/12, Edmonton Sun: Office talk. “People on college campuses have more passion for our show than they have passion for Two and a Half Men.”
  • 6/11, Toronto Star: Funny business as usual at NBC. “The writers have “broken” the first 13 episodes. Each has two or three rough outlines — Daniels brought his two to Banff — and the plan is to reconvene after July 4 with completed scripts.”
