I was greatly saddened to hear that Lester Lewis died this week.
Lester was a writer and producer on The Office during its early seasons, and penned Season 4’s The Deposition and Season 5’s Customer Survey. Lester was kind enough to do a Customer Survey Q&A with OfficeTally.
The most lively exchange of emails I had with Lester revolved around the song Boy Hangover, which he wrote for The Office Season 5 episode, Cafe Disco. He was absolutely delighted over the fan reaction to the song!
Rest in peace, Lester. xo
April 10 update: Craig says the show is titled ‘Mr. Robinson.’
From Deadline:
In his first major sale this season, The Office developer/executive producer Greg Daniels has set up a comedy at NBC starring The Office regular Craig Robinson and written by the show’s supervising producer Owen Ellickson. The untitled project centers on a talented musician (Robinson) with rough edges who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher in a big-city middle school, where he encounters teacher politics and the temptations of single moms.
Congratulations, Craig, Greg, and Owen!

How absolutely precious is this — The Office’s Rainn Wilson posted this audition sign-in sheet on his Facebook page yesterday.
Rainn explains: “This is the original sign-in sheet for the first day of casting for The Office given to me by Allison Jones, our incredible casting agent. I was the very first person to audition for the series, 11/06/03. Notice all the amazing talent on the sheet, including the amazing #13! This is perhaps the greatest Office keepsake I have. So grateful for the best job I will ever have.” Continue reading “The Office audition sign-in sheet, 2003”
From Deadline.com:
The Office‘s Rainn Wilson has been tapped for the title role in the CBS/20th TV drama pilot Backstrom. Also cast in the project, based on the Swedish book series, is Page Kennedy. Written by Bones creator Hart Hanson, Backstrom centers on Everett Backstrom (Wilson), an overweight, offensive, irascible detective as he tries, and fails, to change his self-destructive behavior. In addition to starring, Wilson will serve as a producer. He joins co-stars Kristoffer Polaha and Dennis Haysbert.
Congratulations, Rainn!

As The Office winds down, I feel more and more sentimental every day, and discover photos from seasons past that I have never seen before.
Such as this gem of Rainn Wilson (“Dwight Schrute”) from 2006.
I think this is one of my favorite publicity photos ever.
P.S. I posted lost photos from Michael’s Birthday yesterday.
