‘Angela goes to the Emmys’ video

The first of the Angela Kinsey Emmy videos is up at NBC.com — watch here!

In this one, the cameras tag along to watch Angela pick her dress (with the assistance of fashionista Mindy Kaling, aka “Kelly”) and shoes.

Thanks, Elizabeth, for the tip!

Update 12:30pt PT: The video’s now been expanded to include jewelry shopping with Phyllis Smith (“Phyllis”) and sunglass shopping with Brian Baumgartner (“Kevin”). Very funny!

Craig Robinson review

As mentioned here at OfficeTally, Craig Robinson (“Darryl”) performed at Zanies Comedy Club in Chicago earlier this month.

Here’s a review from OT reader Matthew:

Just wanted to pass along the note that I caught Craig Robinson on Saturday, the early 7 pm show at Zanies in Chicago. It was fabulous! He did about 20 min of jokes and riffing with the audience, some seemed rehearsed bits, but many were reacting to the audience and commenting about what was going on in the news lately. Real current comedy and the crowd really ate it up.

He then did another 30 minutes of comedy/singing/story telling on the keyboard. Really unique and he has a great voice and must have played part of over a dozen songs. He sang, had crowd participation and was just a joy to see. A really good time and I highly recommend seeing him. The show was rated R, but there was nothing too vulgar or profane.

After he finished, he made sure he got a chance to talk with everyone that wanted some time and seemed real genuine and appreciative of all of his fans from stand up, The Office, and other appearances. He mentioned to me he would be in about 6-8 episodes so far, and is always ready and willing when the writers have scenes for him. He also made a couple of jokes about Steve Carell and said it is hard to keep a straight face when he improvises, but those are the best scenes because they are so real.

I sent him a message thanking him again for chatting and putting on such a great performance, and he wrote me back today. A real class act!

Thanks for the review, Matthew! Further proof that the cast of The Office is one of the most talented (and nicest) casts around …

Jenna shops for her Emmy dress

Okay, so this is an Emmy story so I should have added it to the Emmy post. And normally, I am not that interested in fashion, but after reading the article, I’ve learned that picking the right dress for the Emmys is like, a BIG DEAL.

USA Today follows Jenna Fischer as she figures out what to wear on Emmy night. I think I would rather reformat my hard drive than shop for fancy dresses, but Jenna handles it with her characteristic charm and good humor.

Watch Jenna try on Emmy dresses here. The accompanying article appears below the video window.

(I didn’t like either of the dresses she tried on; did you?)

Reminder: Rainn on Leno tonight

Just a reminder that Rainn Wilson appears on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ tonight.

This is a repeat of his July 20th appearance, resplendent in Miami Vice garb and stubble.

Colin Farrell and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers also appear.

David Brent teaches Microsoft values

I don’t normally post items related to the original BBC version of “The Office,” but this was too good to pass up.

A Microsoft UK employee (Stephen Merchant) interviews David Brent (Ricky Gervais), former manager of Wernham Hogg paper products in Slough, for his insights on corporate culture and career development.

Even though these videos were produced back in 2003, I just received notice of them today, through the article ‘The Office’ visits Microsoft’s office in PC Advisor.

David’s insights into Nelson Mandela and Stephen Hawking are thought-provoking, to say the least. And please make sure to watch until the end of both videos.

Reminder: Jenna on Conan tonight

Jenna Fischer appears on ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ tonight.

This is a repeat of her March 2nd appearance, and also includes Bob Costas and Dwayne Perkins.

Jenna relays a pretty funny story about her short stint as an International Spice Girl.

Fortune talks to Dwight Schrute

Dwight Schrute offers Fortune Magazine his typically sage advice on getting ahead in corporate America (Rainn Wilson makes a brief appearance at the end of the interview).

An excerpt:

I’m sure as a young person climbing the corporate ladder you’re a big Fortune reader …

Absolutely. I love their articles in Fortune that have to do with pirate ships that have sunk off of Barbados. Abandoned gold mines that still have a great deal of treasure in them in the Congo. And ruins in Peru … Oh wait a minute, that’s Fortune Hunter Magazine.
